It looks like Eva Longoria will be keeping her ABC ties strong long after Desperate Housewives goes off the air. Deadline.com is reporting that the Latina star will be executive producing an Americanized version of the novela Soy Tu Dueña.
ABC will reportedly air the series, which will be co-produced by Televisa. The plot follows the life of a wealthy Texas heiress who loses her fortune and is forced to move back to her childhood ranch. Dueña was a huge success during its Univision run and ABC is hopeful it can score big ratings with English audiences too.
Similar to Ugly Betty, the network hopes to re-imagine the premise in a way that American audiences can relate to. Fernando Colunga and Lucero starred in the original version, but are not expected to return for the remake.
As for Eva, we're very hopeful she'll be willing to step in front of the camera as well as produce. Though she's got a ton of film projects lined up, it would be great to see her back in ABC primetime, especially if she's willing to wear one of those skimpy Dueña cowgirl outfits!
Did you watch Soy Tu Dueña when it aired on Univision? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.
