Last night the city of Miami lit up as one of Mexico's greatest comedians, Adal Ramones, hit the stage at the Miami-Dade County Auditorium. This was the comedian's very first show in the city and one of his last stops on the Genios Del Humor North American Tour.
The high energy could be felt by all throughout the auditorium as the crowd continually yelled out "Adal!". Yet, it was clear that Adal didn't just come out for the laughs, as he jolted on stage with his trademark smile. He was touring with Genios Del Humor to bring back Hispanic stand-up comedy to the United States and to provide a stage for up and coming comedians, like Ecuadorian comedian Francisco Pinoargotti, whom he shared the stage with.
"Los Hispanos estamos presente en los Estados Unidos!", Ramones roared to the crowd.
Many local personalities and fellow artists came out to see the show, like Alexis Valdes, Ana Maria Canseco and Cuban Comedian Robertico.
Adal's monologue lasted almost two hours and the crowd could not get enough. He talked about everything, from his 10-year-old daughter asking him how babies are made to the not-so-logical ending of Titanic (I always asked myself the same question, why couldn't Rose share the door with Jack?!).
Needless to say, my abs got a good workout because I could not stop laughing even after the show was over. Adal's genius lies in his ability to take everyday experiences and connect with the audience in a way only a comedian of his caliber can.
His passion for making people laugh is evident as he told the crowd,
"Gracias por venir, pero más que todo gracias por sus risas!"
At the end of the show someone yelled out from the crowd "Otro Rollo!" which of course was the hit late night comedy show Adal hosted for more than a decade with some very memorable guests like Britney Spears, Will Smith and Shakira. To this outburst the comedian replied, "Regreso con Rollo el año que viene."
To say I'm excited is an understatement! If you were anything like me then you remember late Saturday nights watching Adal's monologues and sketches with your favorite artists- like my all time favorite sketch with Maná.
Its amazing to see a comedian like Adal Ramones representing Latinos all across the United States and I can only hope he'll come back to Miami soon.
What is your favorite 'Otro Rollo' moment?
