Who can forget the 1999 cult smash, The Blair Witch Project? Not only was it a groundbreaking independent horror film, it was also co-directed by a Latino! Cuban-American Eduardo Sanchez was one half of the creative force behind Blair Witch and now he says that there may be a new sequel in the works.
"Dan [Myrick] and I are ready to do it," Eduardo told Bloody Disgusting. "We've been toying around with a sequel idea that we really like. It's just a matter of getting our schedules in line and having Lionsgate sign off on the idea. We've been ready to do a Blair Witch movie for a long time".
A true cinematic phenomenon, the original Blair Witch was made for less than $750,000 and wound up grossing over $245 million at the box office. Obviously that made the studio rush out a sequel, without the involvement of Sanchez and his creative partner Dan Myrick.
But now, true Witch fans have something to get excited about. Both Eduardo and Dan are eager to crank out Blair Witch 3 and would even plan on bringing back members of the original cast…IF it gets off the ground.
Would you like to see a new Blair Witch sequel? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.
