Ahh, the 1990's. The decade that brought us legendary Nirvana and Sublime albums also delivered some of the worst music ever laid to CD. And Rolling Stone is actually having quite a bit of fun with that concept by releasing the decade's "Worst Songs" list.
Sure music is interpretive and song tastes vary from person to person, but can anyone argue about the horrendous lyrics of "MMMBop?" Or the annoying chorus of "Tubthumping?" We didn't think so.
Actually those two songs are hardly the worst offenders of the bunch. According to Rolling Stone, the #1 most hideous song of the 90's is Aqua's 1997 gem, "Barbie Girl."
And for those of you curious about how Latino artists ranked on the list, it's interesting to note that Los Del Rio's 1994 "Macarena" craze earned the #2 slot. Yes it was overplayed, but was it really THAT bad? At least we got some exercise out of it.
What do you think was the worst song of the '90s? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.
