Listen up, Saturday Night Live fans. Are you ready for some "Schweddy Balls"?
Ben & Jerry's has just announced they will be making a new ice cream flavor, cleverly titled "Schweddy Balls," available in stores and in their ice cream shops. The flavor will consist of "vanilla ice cream with a hint of rum and is loaded with fudge covered rum and milk chocolate malt balls."
It sounds kind of delicious, actually. My mouth is watering as I type. I think I'll be picking up a pint of some "Schweddy Balls" if I see it on the shelves.
"Schweddy Balls" is a tribute to an SNL skit in which Alec Baldwin plays Pete Schweddy, manufacturer of holiday sweet treats. He is the owner of a holiday bakery called Season's Eatings. The skit was meant to spoof NPR's "uniquely soothing sound" and, of course, offer an excuse to talk about Mr. Schweddy's balls.
A spokesperson for the Ben & Jerry's franchise, Sean Greenwood, said the company has always had a sense of humor. This is evident if you've ever seen the names of any of their ice cream flavors. With ice cream names like "Half Baked," "Cherry Garcia," and "Chubby Hubby," you can't help but laugh. While the name may sound silly, Greenwood promises "Schweddy Balls" will be good.
What's next, Schweddy Weiner popsicles? Yummy!
Will you be trying this new fun flavor once it hits the stores?
