Sure it was fun watching Katy Perry take home Best Video at the VMAs last night, but the award we're most excited about is Best Latino Artist! For the past several weeks, there has been a heated battle brewing between Don Omar, Enrique Iglesias, Prince Royce, Maná, and Wisin y Yandel. And now we're happy to announce that W y Y have "officially" taken it down!
Of course we won't get to hear their acceptance speech until Monday September 5, when the VMAs get broadcast on Tr3s. But Wisin y Yandel did issue a brief statement thanking fans for their win.
"It is a privilege to be nominated for this 'Best Latino Artist' award and an honor to receive this award, voted by the fans," they said. "This award is proof that hard work and perseverance can lead you to your goals. Thank you to the fans and Tr3 for their continued support."
Obviously with millions of records sold (and a hot new single with Ricky Martin), these two more than deserve it. Not only that, they're great guys and do A LOT of charitable work within the Latin community. Congratulations to Wisin y Yandel on their big win!

You know you're a pretty important star if your pregnancy overshadows the entire 2011 Video Music Awards. But that's what happened Sunday night when Beyoncé debuted her baby bump on the MTV black carpet. Though Jay-Z and B gossip did dominate the night, the VMAs still delivered plenty of great moments, like retro Bruno Mars jams and greaser punk Gagas!
As promised, Lady Gaga opened the show with a big surprise. Rather than don another outlandish outfit, the Little Monster mixed things up and came dressed as a man for her performance of "You and I." Interestingly, Gaga's “dude” persona hung around most of the night, flirting with sexy lady celebs like Britney Spears.
Britney happened to get quite a bit of love from both the fans and the voters. Her "Till The World Ends" took home the award for Best Pop Video and she got the night's Vanguard Award. Lady Gaga's male alter-ego expressed deep admiration for the "Toxic" singer and even attempted to kiss her onstage.
Another big tribute of the night was dedicated to the memory of soul singer, Amy Winehouse. Bruno Mars honored her with a spirited performance of "Valerie" and friend Russell Brand gave a heartfelt speech from the podium.
"She was a mate of mine and tragically this year we lost her," Russell said. "This is not just another London chancer, not just another person milling about waiting to be famous. What is this incredible sound? This timeless sound like a roar from the guts of humanity? The kind of voice that Billie Holiday sung with, the kind of voice that Ella Fitzgerald sung with."
Undoubtedly, the biggest performance of the night came from mommy-to-be Beyoncé.
Though she didn’t speak publicly about her pregnancy, the 29-year-old superstar made a point to rub her belly after an energetic performance of "Love On Top." The cameras then pointed to proud papa Jay-Z, who enthusiastically cheered from his seat.
As far as the awards went, Katy Perry and Adele came out the big winners. Katy's "Firework" won for Video of the Year and her "E.T." nabbed Best Visual Effects. Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" video scored Best Art Direction, Best Editing, and Best Cinematography.
Perry seemed rather humbled after winning the night’s biggest trophy, saying from the stage,
"Thank you so much! This is my second Moonman. I'm very proud of the song it stands for, which is ‘Firework.' I feel like I am doing something right when I sing that song. So thanks to everyone who helped create it!"
Katy also got a bit of notoriety for her fashion sense. Wearing what looked like a giant cube on her hand, she arrived sporting purple hair and a multicolored dress. Selena Gomez also got plenty of comments for her ensemble. Looking almost like an early Halloween costume, her vampy black dress was both sleek and spooky.
The Jersey Shore girls also got plenty of attention for their outrageous outfits. Deena Cortese practically blinded the paparazzi with her overly bright rainbow dress and Snooki was spotted in a getup that looked like something out of Conan The Barbarian.
But it was Nicki Minaj's fashion choice that got the most bloggers buzzing. She showed up in a geometrically-inspired dress, complete with a polka-dot ninja mask and Candy Land beehive! But of course, it all added to the fun of a very "colorful" night.
Be sure to check out the "official" VMA website for the complete winner list!

We just can't seem to get enough of Hollywood's House of Blues these days. Just a few weeks ago, we caught a riveting show by Gustavo Galindo and now it was Don Tetto's turn to light up the stage. Playing in front of a packed house, the Colombian rockers proved they had the chops to "make it" on the legendary Sunset Strip.
"Playing the Sunset House of Blues was awesome!" drummer Jaime Medina said after the show. "It was a dream come true. This was truly an amazing experience."
Judging by the uproarious fan reaction, the crowd was obviously in agreement. Along with Diego Pulecio, Carlos Leongomez, and James Valderrama, Jaime delivered a ton of head banging hits.
"We have what we call a 'classic set'," Medina explained. "Songs like 'No Digas Lo Siento' and about seven or eight others are always the most fun to play live. We love the loud songs."
With their onstage charisma and acrobatics, it's clear that Don Tetto has been heavily influenced by several "loud" rockers from the past. Jaime, in particular, was not shy when discussing the band's influences.
"We used to play a lot of covers from Green Day and Blink 182," he said. "Our idols right now are The Foo Fighters. They have a really great sound."
Medina went on to explain how being in southern California was a somewhat new experience for the guys. While visiting from Colombia, the Don Tetto boys caught up on famous landmarks, visited the Santa Monica Pier, and took a trip L.A.'s famous Chinatown.
After this week's show, they boarded a plane back to Bogota. But if Jaime has his way, they'll be back within the year and possibly with a new batch of songs.
"We're hoping to have the new album going by August of next year," he said. "We can't wait to create more music and play more songs. It’s our passion to be on stage."
Judging by the momentum they've got behind them right now, a Don Tetto world tour may indeed be in their future.

Russell Brand just introduced Tony Bennet to the stage to honor Amy Winehouse. The feeling at Nokia is really amazing right now. Bruno Mars hit the stage to bring the energy to another level with his performance of her songs! Incredible ! Amy, you are dearly missed! What an awesome tribute!
By the way I went to the restroom and as soon I came back Tyler the Creators' mom thanked me for bringing her water and holding her down during Tylers aceptance speech. Oh and Kevin Hart missed me because some drunk seat filler sat in my seat while I went to charge my phone.
Yes yes and yes! My girl Katy Perry takes home the Video of the Year award!!!!! Awwww Russell Brand looked extra emotional as he thanked him for his support and love!!! Sorry for all the "!!!" but this girl deserves it! Party!
Then Lil' Wayne hits the stage and the entire Nokia Theater smells like illegal substance!
No one stood up for the performance, it was horrible! lol

Chris Brown is really trying to prove himself by flying in the air with his dancers. His music peers are standing during his performance: Kanye West, Tyga even LMFAO!
Not sure if he made the statement he wanted but the Odd Future guys behind kept laughing at him the entire time saying "homie is turn up literally"
Ha! By the way Adele was SO nervous during her performance she kept taking deep breath prior to her performance. Chris Brown did the same that's how good these seats are hahahah I could see when the artist are breathing and not ! Ha!
More champagne, please!

Nicki Minaj takes it home for the ladies for Best Hip Hop video! Yo, can we take a second to talk about my seat!!!!
I'm sitting in front of Odd Future next to Kevin Hart and behind Young The Giant, can you spot me?
Paul Rudd and Kevin Hart are apparently bestows because they just had an inside joke moment Rick Ross looked lost as he was trying to ease drop!
My girl Katy Perry just won!!!! Kanye West came to interrupt her!!!
The carpet was a huge success. We caught up with Zoe Saldana, Katy Perry and even Justin Bieber. I can't wait for you guys to check the footage. Aside from last years carpet which was outside and had a white carpet (not red) this year we were indoors inside the Marriott Hotel on a black carpet.
Honestly, the carpet set up felt like Lady Gaga's baby mansion. It had insane ancient alien looking rolling structure where the celebrities walked in through before hitting the press.
The stage inside is amazing! MTV always goes all out!

Among the many things we've had plenty in the movies this almost finished summer 2011 -superhero movies, raunchy comedies, a superabundance of Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal and 27 sequels– we also have being submitted to a huge supply of remakes.
Maybe it was that writer's strike a couple years ago that created a shortage of original stories but the fact is that we've had so far remakes for: Jane Eyre, Arthur, Frightnight, Conan the Barbarian, The Mechanic (my favorite so far) and even an animated version of Romeo & Juliet (curiously, without any dead people at the end which kind of spoils the story…). Don’t be Afraid of the Dark belongs to the subcategory of B Series remade as Major Motion Pictures. The difference here is that the original B pulp is one of those rare really good ones.
Truth is, the original 1973 made-for-TV is spine-chilling to a point I don't usually experience and I can see why Guillermo Del Toro fell in love with the story in the first place. Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, tells again the classic story of the people who buy the haunted estate where very horrible things happened many years ago and where an ancient evil awaits patiently.
The intro to the Creepy Things from Long Ago actually is one of the best and scarier parts of the movie and serves as a very good first scene that establishes a sort of mythology for the story. Incidentally, one of the flaws of the film is precisely that it doesn't follows on that subplot.
The story: Alex the Architect and his girlfriend Kim the Interior Designer move into and start repairing the Old Blackwood Mansion. Alex has a little daughter named Sally who's moving in with her dad after problems with mom. Sally is also a young artist and a sensitive kid whose being deeply affected by the divorce, so no matter how New Girlfriend Kim tries to break the ice, she keeps to herself. Then, Sally Goes to the Basement and Opens the Oven, and the creepy little creatures come out.
I suspect that Don’t be Afraid of the Dark is going to become one of those cult classics with several remakes through the years and everybody swearing that "first one was the best", but that said, this is a pretty good one. Really, it's scary and unpleasantly creepy and beg the Lord you don't have a screamer sitting beside you.
The best thing of the movie by far is Baylee Madison as Sally. Baylee is the girl from Bridge to Therabithia and she only needs to smile to catch your heart. Guy Pearce as Alex has a somewhat crappy script but he handles it as the professional he is (this is the guy from Memento) and I have nothing against Katie Holmes as Kim.
I have to say that her character was much better written than Pearce's Alex, but she is convincing all the way to the really disturbing last scene. Still, I think the final scene from the original is wayyyy creepier.
Are you planning on watching 'Don't be Afraid of the Dark'?

Latin heartthrob Luis Miguel and former MTV VJ and fashion mogul Daisy Fuentes have been seen canoodling in a seafood restaurant in Baja California this past week. The couple was vacationing in La Paz, the capital of Baja California, when they opted to dine at a charming little place called El Tecolote.
Luismi and Daisy were spotted in full-on date-mode at this restaurant, sitting very closely, I might add. She was even caught eating from his spoon and getting a little cozy with the singer as he fed her. The couple looked as if they were enjoying themselves and having a fun time.
When questioned, the owner of the restaurant confesses that he missed the couple the first time because he was out, but heard all about it from his staff. He was present the second time they visited, however, and described what he saw: Daisy wore black, and Luis Miguel brought his own bottle of wine, complete with a single wine glass. He was the only one that drank that night. On both of his visits to El Tecolote, he ordered the fish.
Staff at the restaurant described Luis Miguel as being very humble. He didn't want any special treatment. In fact, he enjoyed the fact that no one treated him any differently, as if he were one of their every-day restaurant patrons.
This rendezvous between Daisy and Luis Miguel shouldn't be a surprise to loyal readers. We recently heard a chisme that Daisy was pregnant with Luismi's baby earlier this month. This is also not the first time the couple has been spotted together. Last year their union made headlines as chismosos everywhere placed their bets on whether the two were an item again. This recent sighting should be nada nuevo, based on the couple's romantic history.
What do you think? Could there be a Miguel and Fuentes romance cooking up, or is their romance a thing of the past?
