Have you been noticing a lot more TV posters popping up around town? With fall fast approaching, the networks are in a mad scramble to get you tuned in to their newest primetime shows. This season promises to bring more crime dramas, more bawdy sitcoms, and more Latinos in starring roles.
On the drama side, you can expect quite a few Tr3s faves flexing their edgy acting chops. There’s Kirk Acevedo in the NBC police show Prime Suspect. Judging by his badge-flashing roles in Fringe and NYPD Blue, it’s clear he was born to play a cop.
Lost’s Nestor Carbonell will be back on the small screen too. He'll be playing FBI agent Victor Machado in the Sarah Michelle Gellar drama, Ringer. Featuring twin-related plot twists and mobster villains, it promises to be a very interesting nighttime soap.
Another heavy show we're excited about is NBC's The Playboy Club. No it's not just for the bunny skirts, this series happens to have Eddie Cibrian as the main lead. It's also got a great Mad Men-esque feel since it's set in the early 1960's.
But don't think it'll just be stone-faced estrellas lighting up the boob tube this season. Ramon Rodriguez promises plenty of fun and action on his ABC series, Charlie’s Angels. Yes it's another reboot, but with a diverse trio of starlets (and Ramon calling the shots as Bosley), it should be a lot of fun.
In the sitcom department, you’ll get to see veteran actor Hector Elizondo stirring things up with Tim Allen in Last Man Standing. Based around a husband’s struggle for male support, we’re sure Hector will make a great comedic shoulder to lean on.
Former soap star Rosa Blasi will get to show off her funny side in I Hate My Teenage Daughter. This title pretty much says it all, but Fox seems to have a lot of faith in it. They’re scheduling it to premiere after Simon Cowell’s highly-touted X-Factor.
And don’t think we forgot about reality. Mario Lopez’ show about celebs facing their H8rs is garnering a ton of buzz. And Latino Survivor fans have a new Cuban-American castaway to root for.
So start making space on those TiVos now. The prime time season (and all the Latino stars that go along with it) officially kicks off this September!
Who’s your favorite Latin TV star? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.
