Usually brands love getting exposure on a popular television series. But Jersey Shore isn't your typical prime time hit. With its wild parties, foul-mouthed cast, and out of control fist pumping, the MTV reality show is definitely an "acquired taste." So much so, that clothing retailer Abercrombie & Fitch wants its image removed from the program.
Reuters is reporting that A & F is "deeply concerned" that stars like Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino could do damage to its brand. Known for sporting Abercrombie shirts on the show, Sorrentino may now have the opportunity to earn money for dumping his entire collection.
In what some are deeming a publicity stunt, Abercrobie has offered to pay the cast to NOT wear their brands on-air. It all seems rather interesting when you consider that they recently produced a t-shirt labeled "The Fitchuation."
Regardless, the No-Jersey Shore movement seems to have done more harm than good. It was reported this week that A & F's stock dropped by 10%. Perhaps all those die-hard Jersey fans have decided they'd rather spend their money on Snooki's clothing line.
Do you think Abercrombie made a mistake dissing the Shore? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.
