We've all seen the negative comments spewing in cyberspace about Rebecca Black and her novelty hit "Friday." And apparently, those harsh feelings are translating into the singer's day-to-day life as well. Citing "relentless taunts from bullies," Black's mother has decided to pull her out of high school and teach her at home.
Of course, the fact that Rebecca's mom is a teacher makes us think the homeschooling option isn't such a bad idea. She also explained how the situation will help with touring and other aspects of Black's musical career.
But as Rebecca explained to Nightline, the nonstop teasing was the deciding factor.
"When I walk by [at school] they'll start singing 'Friday' in a really nasally voice," she said. "Or, you know, they'll be like, 'Oh hey, Rebecca, guess what day it is?'"
As we've noted in the past, the bullying epidemic has stirred up quite a lot of buzz in the news. Though none of Black's incidents escalated into violence, she now prides herself in being a spokesperson for other victims on the schoolyard.
"It really sucks being bullied," she said in a recent video. “But one thing that you can't do is let them stop you from doing what you want to do."
Do you think it was right for Rebecca's mom to pull her out of school? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.
