We had recently mentioned how Desperate Housewives was in danger of getting the axe after the end of this season. And sadly, it has been confirmed that the Wisteria Lane ladies are indeed on their way out. But before you shed too many tears, keep in mind that Eva Longoria and company promise to give the fans one hell of a sendoff.
"It's confirmed! We are filming our last season of Desperate Housewives!" Longoria Tweeted. "I am so grateful for what the show has given me! We always knew we wanted to end on top and I thank ABC for giving us our victory lap!"
The "victory lap" that Eva’s referring to is no doubt the final 24 episodes of the show. With plenty of advance notice, the writers can easily wrap up storylines and prepare for what we’re sure will be an emotional series finale.
Though no spoilers have been revealed as of yet, plenty of rumors have already begun circulating. Some outlets are reporting that past Housewife Nicollette Sheridan will return to the show and there’s even been talk of a Desperate spinoff.
The only real tidbit came from series creator Marc Cherry, who said,
"I'm very aware that some shows overstay their welcome and I didn't want that to happen with Desperate Housewives. We wanted to go out in the classiest way possible."
