Hollywood has been trying to make a movie of the notorious drug lord for quite some time. Both Oliver Stone and Joe Carnahan have had projects on hold for respective films "Escobar" and "Killing Pablo" but it looks like a new kid on the Hollywood block, Brad Furman, is the one that will actually make the film a reality.
Furman sneaked up on Hollywood with his film The Lincoln Lawyer, becoming a sleeper success. He was also set to direct Arnold Schwarzenegger in his come back film Cry Macho before the whole infidelity scandal was blown out.
There is alot of steam behind the Pablo Escobar project, and even though there is no leading man yet to play the infamous Pablo, the inside buzz is that this could be the next Godfather or Scarface. Let's hope Escobar's amazing story is told with substance and facts and is not just another superficial documentary of what was the life of the most powerful drug lord in history.
What do you think of this project?
