Talk about a dramatic turn of events. Roughly two months after Giovanni Ramirez was arrested in connection to a brutal beating at Dodgers' Stadium, the 31-year-old was let go and fully exonerated by the LAPD.
Additonally, TMZ is reporting that Los Angeles police have arrested two new suspects in connection to the crime, though details have been very scarce up to this point. All we know is, the LAPD is going to face some harsh criticism for vilifying Ramirez and, we imagine, one heck of a lawsuit.
Apparently it took some additional investigators to clear Giovanni, as his case eventually wound up in L.A.'s Robbery Homicide division. Ramirez' lawyer, Jose Romero, also reportedly produced some evidence that seemed to give his client a rock solid alibi.
"The police played hide and seek so we did our own digging," Romero said. "This is our golden nugget. He's been innocent from the beginning."
Meanwhile, Brian Stow, the San Francisco Giants fan who was attacked, is still in "serious condition." Doctors performed emergency surgery on him this week to drain fluid from his brain. Let's hope the suspects that the LAPD have now are the right guys and can face the proper punishment for this vicious crime.
Do you think Giovanni Ramirez was victim of racism?
