Judging from the recent high-profile DUI busts and car crashes, safe driving has become an issue on everyone's minds. And even though he only got his license just a year ago, Justin Bieber has become very vocal about playing it safe behind the wheel. In fact, it was just announced that he's become a new spokesman against texting and driving.
"As a 17-year-old driver, I am aware of the countless distractions that we teenagers face on the road, and texting is one that is preventable," Justin recently said. "There are too many young people whom we've lost because of texting while driving, and it is my hope that we will raise awareness of this issue and create safer conditions for everyone on the road."
That statement was actually part of a national campaign Bieber's heading with the company PhoneGuard. He's also helping to promote a new app which prevents drivers from texting and emailing once they hit the road.
Justin made a point to bring up his involvement with the Remember Alex Brown Foundation, which was started in the memory of a teen who lost her life because of a texting-while-driving incident. We're definitely proud of "The Biebs" for spreading the word. Now let's just hope Paris Hilton gets the message.
