Anyone logging on to Belinda's web page got a treat this past week. It seems the Mexican pop princess dropped quite a few tidbits about her latest record. Fans got a glimpse of Beli in the studio and a list of some very interesting collaborators who are helping her out with the project.
One musical name that is sure to get Belinda fans excited is Maffio. A major powerhouse in the Latin recording world, he's worked with Pitbull and remixed hits for the Black Eyed Peas. He's also got a major presence on Twitter and used the site post a very cute studio twitpic with Beli.
Belinda also mentioned Young Hollywood and David Alvarado in her site's album newsfeed. Both of them seem to be offering a lot of creative input on the new record, which makes us think that she may be headed towards more of an urban/hip-hop direction.
As we all know, Beli's last record, Carpe Diem, was considered quite the smash. It reached #3 in the Latin Pop Billboard charts and spawned the hit theme song for Niñas Mal. Whatever genre she decides to get into next, we're sure it will be very appealing!

Ever since Paulina Rubio was cuffed by Miami P.D., there have been endless questions. What exactly led to her arrest? Did she resist the cops? And what's up with all these breastfeeding stories? Well now we got a hold of the police report and the official account of what went down.
Rubio’s BMW collided with a white Mitsubishi at approximately 2:20pm on Saturday afternoon. After an officer responded to the scene, Pau Pau began getting "verbally abusive." That led to her officially being charged with Refusal to Obey a Lawful Command, Obstruction of Justice, and Disorderly Conduct.
But that's not all. It goes on to say that Rubio cursed at the cop en español. Per the report,
"Defendant continued to refuse [to cooperate], screaming in Spanish 'What the f*ck you want me to do? I just had an accident and I'm very nervous. That's why people don’t like you because all of you Miami cops are abusive'."
And keep in mind, this wasn't just a conversation between Pau Pau and the cops. Rubio's rants were so loud, they caught the attention of nearly everyone on the street! She repeatedly yelled terms like "Help!" and "Abusers!," which, not coincidentally, led to that Disturbing the Peace charge.
We all know what happened next. Pau Pau was cuffed and put in the squad car. Though she ultimately didn't get dragged to the station, Rubio was issued a summons and may face some stiff penalties. And for the record, those breastfeeding rumors may be true!
Per the report,
“Defendant was arrested with a ‘Promise to Appear’ because she advised the office that she has an extenuating circumstance: (she breast feeds her 6 month old child).”
Do you think Paulina acted out of line with the officers? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.

2011 has been quite a roller coaster year for Chris Brown. Just three short months ago, he went through a very public meltdown on NBC's Today Show. But yesterday, the R&B star seemed happy, healthy, and full of positive energy as he took home four BET Awards in front of a roaring crowd.
"All my fans are everything to me," Brown said during an acceptance speech. "I know it's been a long road. I just appreciate every blessing that's been put in front of me."
Chris' new F.A.M.E. record seemed to get quite a bit of love at last night's big event. It helped score him the Best Male R & B Artist award as well as Best Video honors for its single "Look At Me Now."
Interestingly, "Look At Me Now" probably caused the most talked-about moment of the night. When presenting the award for Best Collaboration, a female fan mistakenly named Rihanna and Drake as the winners. In reality, Brown's song was name in the envelope and it created a very awkward moment when Drake took the stage to accept the statue.
Other big winners last included Nicki Minaj, who won for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, and Kanye West who took home Best Male Hip-Hop Artist. In a much tighter race, Wiz Khalifa won Best New Artist, beating out Tr3s fave Bruno Mars.
Siblings Willow and Jaden Smith tied for the Young Artist award (which we're sure made parents Will and Jada rather happy). And even disgraced NFL star Michael Vick got some redemption, winning the Best Sportsman award.
As far as the live performances went, Brown did a very entertaining medley of his hits, which included bits of "She Ain't You." That obviously was significant because of its sampling of Michael Jackson’s "Human Nature" and this past weekend's two-year anniversary of MJ's passing.
Beyonce performed "The Best Thing I Never Had" via satellite from England and took part in a very spirited Patti Labelle tribute. Labelle received the evening's Lifetime Achievement award and got serenaded by Cee-Lo (who came out wearing a hilarious wig).
Patti went on to thank her famous fans by saying,
"I would like to thank everybody for everything you've done for me. I plan to hold myself higher because I have gotten this wonderful award."

Ok, girls, thanks to Paulina Rubio, we now have a new proven excuse to get out of a ticket or avoid jail time for that matter!
Instead of pulling the typical "Do you know who I am?" card to the officer who registered the minor car accident she suffered this Saturday in Miami, la Chica Dorada appealed to the officer's bruised little heart telling them she had to get home to breastfeed.
But don't think the incident went without drama. Rubio had the minor car accident and a first officer on the scene instructed her to get out of the car.
Needless to say, she refused (after all, she freaking IS Paulina Rubio) and began to yell out for help!
When a second officer showed up on the scene, reports claim she was forced to get out of the car.
Meanwhile, according to TMZ, the pop star kept screaming for help, insulting the officers and calling them liars, even after being handcuffed and placed inside the police car.
One hour later, after kicking and screaming, Paulina finally calmed down, apologized and told the officers she had an "extenuating circumstance" -to go breastfeed her adorably famous 6 month old baby.
The officers were apparently at least a little star-struck as they let Rubio go, yet they pressed to see her again in court, with charges of "disorderly conduct, obstruction of justice and refusal to obey a lawful command", which comes as no surprise and begs the question: Didn’t these guys know who SHE was?
In any case, girls, Paulina's kick ass-excuse proved effective even after the yelling and screaming, so I'd recommend to fearlessly add it to your "excuses to avoid a ticket" list!
My other personal favorite excuse which by the way has worked twice for me and has the added bonus to work wonders if you apply it to both, men and women officers is:
"Officer, my boyfriend just left me...." (Based on Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw's famous "my boyfriend left me on a Post It note excuse" ). This one works best if you cry real tears- on his shoulder, preferably-Never fails!
Another excuses to totally avoid a ticket?
1) My radar never went off!
2) I had too much to drink and I didn't know what I was going (Believe it or not, this was actually used by a person whose name should remain anonymous)
and the worst of them all (trust me you will get a ticket with this one),
3) Peeing in your own pants for real! (I've heard every person that has tried to pull this one to avoid the ticket, has had to go home, with a stinky car that will cost them at least $60 to get detailed, plus, the cost of the ticket, lawyer and court fees) This one, really doesn't work!
What excuses have you used to avoid a traffic ticket?

Mexico pulled off a come-from-behind victory against USA (4-2) to win the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup championship Saturday marking Mexico's sixth overall Gold Cup title and celebrities didn't miss a beat supporting "El Tri" via Twitter.
The match was filled with exciting displays of athleticism as USA scored the first two goals but Mexico's Pablo Barrea answered with two of his own and Andres Guardado and Giovani Dos Santos contributed a goal each. More than 93,000 fans were in attendance.
George Lopez left no room for doubt about who he was rooting for:
"Mexico Mexico Mexico !!! #Goldcup"
Telenovela heartthrob Kuno Becker also made his allegiance crystal clear:
"Wooooooooooow. Que golazoooooooooooo de Giovani!!!!!!!!!! Viva Mexicooo!!!!"
Despite a fan's inquiry, Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez didn't quite commit but hoped to see a good match:
"Hope 4 hi scoring match! RT @KingKmeczik: I wonder who @Mark_Sanchez is cheering for today.. usa or mexico.. either way the man can't lose"
Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya, like many, was on the fence about which team to cheer for:
"I'm going back and fourth with the soccer game and the fights." He went on to tweet, "Que bien el partido de fútbol usa Vs México tengo el corazón partido por la mitad."
Of course when one team cheers the other team jeers. USA winger Landon Donovan took to Twitter to express his disappointment:
"Still bummed about our loss, time for next season. The past is meant to be left behind"
Congratulations to Mexico's on their second consecutive Gold Cup Title!!
Who were you cheering for?

You've got to admire originality in the music world. And right now, no artist is quite as unique as Colombia's Jiggy Drama. Blending bits of dancehall and hip-hop with a style straight out of Comic Con, his new album Nerdside is creating a ton of buzz in Latin America. And Jiggy -his real name is Heartan Lever Criado- couldn't be more excited, as he told Tr3s in an exclusive interview.
"Nerdside is a very fun album," he explained. "I'm trying to do something different."
Comparing Nerdside to his previous record Undergroove, it's clear that is the case. Both incorporate hip-hop elements, but Undergroove seemed to be much more rooted in rap than Nerdside. For this particular outing, he's embraced the tropical elements full-on and created a sound he's quite proud of.
"Undergroove was very different," Drama said. "It was more of a hip-hop vibe. Now I'm doing more of a Caribbean vibe. I can't come up with the same music I was doing years ago. I've got to do something different. I've got to do something fresh."
Well, whatever Jiggy's doing seems to be working extremely well. His most recent "La Fuga" single has become a huge hit in Colombia and its bikini-clad video has gotten him over 12 million hits on YouTube.
"We had fun doing the 'La Fuga' video," Jiggy went on to say. "It had to be simple, but at the same time it had to be something that captured the spirit of the lyrics."
Lyrics are obviously a big part of Drama's appeal (and the basis of the "Nerd" movement). When asked about his inspiration, Jiggy said many of his songs aren't based on his own experiences, but rather what he observes from others.
"I'm inspired by everything around me. Parties, people in the streets…I just like to tell lyrical stories."
Being bilingual, Drama has already recorded several of his lyrics in English. He explained that he is definitely open to doing an American crossover album, but wants to make sure that there are plenty of "Spanglish" rhymes added in too.
And seeing how the "Nerd" angle is such a big part of Jiggy's character, we had to ask about his geeky passions.
"I'm into old school video games. Mario and Nintendo are great!" he said. "I also owe a lot of my success to the internet. Thanks to Twitter and Facebook, I can keep in touch with all of my fans."
If you're interested in learning more about Jiggy Drama, check out his web page for all of the latest social media updates.

Talk about new school meeting old school. This past week, Mexican archeologists used cutting-edge video technology to explore a 1,500-year-old Mayan tomb and, as expected, the results were fascinating.
The tiny device was equipped with a light and lowered 16 feet into the tomb. And if you're curious why the scientists themselves didn't enter the grounds, it's because of the fragility of the site. Searching such a precious landmark needs to be done with extra caution.
The tomb was discovered in 1999 but its contents were so delicate scientists didn't feel comfortable excavating it until now. Thanks to the micro-camera they can explore each room without disturbing the contents.
"Its difficult location and the work to consolidate the plinth had until now impeded penetration into the enclosure," a representative from Mexico's National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) said.
This past week, its secrets were finally uncovered. The camera revealed blood-red walls and paintings of nine black figures. Jade and shell fragments were also discovered on the floor, which INAH reps said were "part of a funerary costume."
Located in Mexico's Chiapas state, the tomb is actually in close proximity to another famous burial site. The grave of Pakal caused a sensation when it was discovered back in the 1950's. When excavated, it revealed the gorgeously carved sarcophagus of the early Mayan ruler.
Though no ancient casket was found this time out, the archeologists believe it is "very probable" that fragmented bones are present within the tomb. And perhaps the most interesting of all is, they may not be from a male ruler.
University of Texas professor David Stuart has a theory that this latest tomb belongs to an ancient female Mayan ruler named Ix Yohl Ik'nal. If so, it would be a very historical find.
"[There is evidence that it] is the burial of a noted female ruler of Palenque named Ix Yohl Ik’nal," Stuart said. "The female ruler is mentioned in a number of the historical texts of the site."

There's no denying that Eminem loves to throw a little shock value into his music. Whether it's controversial lyrics or violent accompanying videos, Em's creativity can always provoke a discussion. For his latest "Space Bound" clip, the rapper's tackling the topic of suicide with blunt force.
Directed by visionary Joseph Kahn, the "Space Bound" video has a very realistic and gritty feel. In the past Kahn has inserted tons of colorful imagery and pop fun into his MTV work. He's helmed such classics as Gwen Stefani's "The Sweet Escape" and Lady Gaga's "LoveGame," but you could hardly tell from what he's shot here.
For this four-minute mini-movie, Kahn's given Em a porn star as a romantic lead. Adult actress Sasha Grey portrays Slim Shady's distant girlfriend in the clip and it's clear from tense diner scenes that they are going through a very rough patch.
The real drama begins during the last minute of the video. There Kahn shot Em violently attacking Grey, trying to strangle her in a motel room. Then, in a fit of rage, he grabs a gun and fires a bullet into his head! It’s clearly a very powerful moment and one that plenty of Eminem fans will be tweeting about for months to come.

Thirteen years after the first Harry Potter book was published, J.K. Rowling brings us Pottermore, an interactive reading website. It's the same story from the books with a few crucial additions. Pottermore -just as the experience of reading- will require that the imagination of the author and reader work together to create the story, so Pottermore will be built in part by You, the reader.
According to J.K. Rowling, the digital generation will be able to enjoy a safe, unique online reading experience built around the Harry Potter books. Pottermore will be the place where fans of any age can share, participate and re-discover the stories. It will also be the exclusive place to purchase digital audio books and, for the first time, e-books of the Harry Potter series.
Rowling herself will also be an intricate part of the experience as she shares with us additional information she's been holding for years about the world of Harry Potter.
Pottermore is open to everyone starting October 2011, but a lucky few will be able to join early to help shape the experience in the Beta stages of the site..
Are you intrigued about Pottermore? What do you think of this new online reading experience for Harry Potter?
