Heard of CARmageddon yet? If you live in Los Angeles you most certainly have. From July 15-18, one of southern California's most populated freeways is shutting down for massive repairs. Traffic is supposed to reach epic levels and you can bet that road rage will be in full effect. That's part of the reason Erik Estrada has spoken out to calm motorists' nerves.
As a star of the 70's TV hit CHiPs, Erik knows quite a bit about highway safety. He donned Officer "Ponch" Poncherello's cop uniform for six seasons and is now throwing on the badge again, for a series of CARmageddon public service announcements.
"When law enforcement asks for help, the answer is always yes," Estrada recently explained.
An actual reserve office himself, Erik happily answered the call to help promote peace and civility during the upcoming automotive apocalypse. His message to L.A. drivers? Stay far away from the freeway and plan your weekend accordingly.
What's the worst traffic jam you've ever been in? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.
