Diego Luna Joins High-Profile Sci-Fi Film 'Elysium'

We all know what the hottest movies this summer are, but are you curious to hear what blockbusters are being planned for 2013? We've got the scoop on at least one of them and it's got Diego Luna in a major supporting role.

Elysium is set to star Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, and Diego as humans fighting angry aliens on Earth. Written and directed by District 9 mastermind Neil Blomkamp, it's already generating tons of buzz and is apparently so large-scale that it will take two years to make.

Little is known about the secretive Elysium plot other than that Damon will be battling the alien invaders and Luna will be playing his best friend. Interestingly, Diego will not be the film's only Latino headliner, Brazilian star Wagner Moura has been confirmed as Elysium's main villain.

South-African director Blomkamp received tons of acclaim for 2009's highly-original District 9 and this follow up project promises to be just as interesting. All Neil has revealed thus far is that Elysium will be "totally original," "very violent," and "very unique."
