There's no doubt that L.A.'s city of San Fernando sees George Lopez as a hometown hero. Since growing up in the area and attending San Fernando High, the late-night host has gone on to achieve great things. But it looks like he hasn't forgotten his old stomping grounds and recently donated a major chunk of cash to his alma mater's baseball team.
The L.A. Daily News reported that Lopez bought San Fernando High's entire baseball team a set of fancy championship rings. Known as the Tigers, the varsity sluggers recently won the City Section Division I finals, making them one of the top high school teams in southern California.
Lopez, who played for the Tigers back in the late 1970's, immediately called the team's coach after the victory and offered to buy rings for everyone on the squad.
"George called me himself," Tigers coach Armando Gomez said. "At first I thought it was a prank call. He's excited. He loves San Fernando and sometimes wears the colors on his TV show. He wants to be there when the rings are presented, and hopefully we'll get some pictures."
And with the amount of cash that George pulls in on a yearly basis, we're sure the Tigers will be sporting some very fancy bling this summer.
Did any famous stars ever attend your high school? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.
