Looks like we'll all have to wait a few more days for our Weezy F. Baby fix. Young Money president Mack Maine recently confirmed that Lil Wayne's highly anticipated ninth studio album Tha Carter IV will be pushed from its original release date of May 16, to June 21.
According to Mack Maine, the album has been held to allow Wayne to add finishing touches on the LP, as well as await versus from album contributors.
The Young Money prez told MTVNews.com:
"He's still perfecting a few things, he's a perfectionist ... changing a few lines. We also have a huge record that [isn't] done yet. We have a little studio time and it should be done probably by Monday."
It's no surprise Weezy needs a few extra days. In March, only three months after his November release from New York's Riker's Island penitentiary, the New Orleans emcee embarked on his I Am Music II tour, a 24-date trek across North America, which doesn't wrap until May 1st, and leaves very little time for studio sessions.
Mack did assure fans, the album's next single is indeed worth the wait, comparing it to the Tha Carter III's "Lollipop."
"It's more along the lines of a 'Lollipop. [it will be] just one of those [records] that will be liked by the masses."
We like the sound of that!
Are you clamoring for more Weezy?! Let us know in the comments, or @MTV3.
