Even though it only premiered a few days ago, this season’s Celebrity Apprentice is already stirring up plenty of watercooler gossip. Featuring a cast that includes Lil Jon, MJ’s sister La Toya Jackson, and Cuban-American slugger Jose Canseco, it promises a whole new batch of headaches for reality CEO Donald Trump.
Jose, for the most part, came off rather appealing in the premiere episode. A former all-star for the Oakland A’s and Texas Rangers, he knocked out a record 462 home runs during his MLB career. But he’s also been dealt his share of controversy, with chisme ranging from steroid use to bankruptcy. His fame and (mis)fortune make him a great candidate for reality TV.
The true villain of Sunday night’s episode appeared to be ex-Survivor winner Richard Hatch. In a heated boardroom moment, former teen idol David Cassidy accused Hatch of shoving him during a challenge — a claim that Canseco backed up.
Of course, we all know dramatic confrontations make great television. So rather than oust Hatch for his bad behavior, The Donald bumped off David instead. Obviously a controversial move, the Cassidy “firing” sent shockwaves among the cast and TV bloggers.
But with Canseco still swinging, we imagine Hatch is in for some stiff competition. And with Jose’s bulging 6’3” frame, it’s safe to say that Richard should avoid getting into any shoving matches with the major league star.
