At this point, Mexican pop star Anahi has a pretty good track record with novelas. Her last series, Rebelde, launched her massively successful singing group RBD, and before that she became a household name on dramas like Primer Amor. Since 2006, Anahi has steered away from small-screen soaps, but now it looks like she’s coming back in the highly-anticipated Televisa drama, Dos Hogares.
Co-starring Cuban heartthrob Carlos Ponce, Dos Hogares’ plot is currently under lock and key, though producers promise that the story will be entirely original. Set to begin shooting in March, Hogares had several big names attached to it before Anahi signed on. Despite rumors that Luis Miguel’s ex, Aracely Arambula, was up for the lead role, execs went with Anahi because of her popularity in the twitterverse (she’s currently at 1.5 million followers).
Could Twitter figure into the novela’s secretive plot? Looks like we’ll have to wait a few more months to find out. Dos Hogares is set to take over Triunfo Del Amor’s primetime novela slot in May.
Are you excited to see Anahi’s new novela? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.
