What do you do when you're dealing with a struggling new Law & Order series? Bring in Alana de la Garza. Adored by L & O fans for her four-year portrayal of assistant D.A. Connie Rubirosa, Alana is being brought back on board for the series spinoff Law & Order: Los Angeles.

In the final four seasons of the original Law & Order series, de la Rosa was highly praised for her Rubirosa character. Brilliant, tough and always willing to push a case to the limit, Connie built up quite a fan following. So much so that when word spread that she would be coming back for a spinoff, TV gossip sites were overwhelmed with positive feedback.

And right now, Law & Order: Los Angeles is in need of some good news. Since its premiere back in September, L & O: LA has had endured its share of shakeups. Original series stars Skeet Ulrich, Regina King and Megan Boone have already departed, and Alfred Molina’s character has undergone a major career change.

Execs are hoping Alana can help improve things. She’s already proven herself to be a hit with audiences and we all know she’s got great acting chops (de la Garza has taken home an Imagen and an ALMA Award for the role). Plus, creator Dick Wolf thinks she’ll make a great Angelino.

Alana has a huge following and it will be interesting to follow her character as she comes to terms with Los Angeles justice,” he said.

You’ve got to love an award show that hands out honors to an entire cast, especially when one of those casts belongs to Tr3s TV fave Modern Family! Not only did Sofia Vergara walk away with a lovely Screen Actor’s Guild statuette, but so did Rico Rodriguez, Ed O’Neill, and the rest of the show’s stars. But that’s just part of the fun. Sunday’s ceremony awarded some of the year’s most talented thespians.

In the movie category, the entire main cast of The King’s Speech walked away with the Outstanding Performance honor. Speech star Colin Firth won a solo SAG statue for outstanding lead actor, while Black Swan’s Natalie Portman took home the award for outstanding lead actress. Melissa Leo and Christian Bale both won awards for their supporting performances in The Fighter.

On the television front, the Modern Family cast won for outstanding performance in the ensemble comedy category (beating out longtime nemesis Glee). Paz de la Huerta, who was fully clothed for the ceremony, and fellow castmates won as part of the outstanding performance in a drama ensemble for Boardwalk Empire.

Julianna Margulies won the award for outstanding female performance for her work in the drama series The Good Wife. Betty White won the same award in the comedy category for her work on the series Hot In Cleveland. Steve Buscemi won the award for outstanding male performance in a drama series for his role as Nucky Thompson in Boardwalk Empire, while Alec Baldwin nabbed the statue for outstanding male performance in a comedy series for 30 Rock.

But enough with the statuettes, right? We know the red carpet is just as important. Sofia was glowing in her blue Roberto Cavalli dress. Mommy-to-be Natalie Portman flaunted a very elegant white Azzaro gown, complete with Tiffany jewelry. And Oscar de la Renta can stop whining now that several nominated actresses (including a red hot Tina Fey) wore (and looked phenomenal in) his classy designs.

While it still wasn’t the Oscars, this year’s SAG Awards were a great warm up. Talented performers, gorgeous outfits and a night of limousines and parties in Los Angeles — it doesn't get much more fabulous than that.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been three months since we’ve seen or heard from pop star Demi Lovato. Sure there’s been an occasional fan message, but other than that the Camp Rock star has been under lock and key at an undisclosed treatment facility. Now it seems Demi has checked out, hopefully leaving all of those “emotional and physical issues” far behind her.

Since her exit early last week, Demi has been spotted in Los Angeles, hoping to get back to her “regular routine” as one TMZ source put it. Does that mean returning to the set of her hit Disney Channel show Sonny with a Chance? Not quite yet.

For right now, Sonny has shifted its focus to other characters within the show. Currently filming Demi-less skits under the moniker So Random, the series seems to be continuing just fine without Lovato. The big question is, will they need her back at all?

We sure hope so. Her spunk and comedic talents were what attracted fans in the first place. But, of course, no one wants to see Lovato until she’s 100 percent healthy. If she still needs a few weeks to heal, we’re sure her fans will understand. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that the wait isn’t too much longer.

Jordana Brewster isn’t the first name that comes to mind when discussing Texas tycoons. But that doesn't mean she can't play one. This versatile Brazilian-American actress has played an underground street racer and soap opera diva in As The World Turns, so we understand why TNT casting agents see so much potential in Jordana and lined her up to be the lead in their reboot of the classic 1980s show Dallas.

Believe it or not, the original Dallas series ran for more than 12 years and, at one time, was one of the highest-rated shows on television. Centered around Southfork Texas’ wealthy Ewing family, plots ranged from cheating husbands to car explosions to the infamous “Who Shot J.R.” cliffhanger.

This time around, the series will focus on the next generation of Ewings, with several classic characters coming back from the original series. Original stars Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray are set to return and rumor has it that the original J.R. (played by Larry Hagman) may be saddling up as well.

Jordana is the first new actress cast and Deadline is reporting that she will be a lead on the show. Her character, Elena, is the daughter of the ranch’s cook and will supposedly be caught up in a Ewing love triangle. Let’s just hope no one goes gunning for poor Elena like they did for J.R.

What's sexier than Daniel Craig as James Bond? Javier Bardem playing his nemesis in the next Bond installment!

We must admit we panicked a little after MGM announced it was suspending production of the (still untitled) Bond reboot last April. But we're ecstatic now that the movie is progressing. Sam Mendes (Road to Perdition, American Beauty) is set to direct the script written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who co-wrote Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace along with John Logan. The story is set to pick up where Quantum of Solace left off.

Craig already signed on, Dame Judi Dench will reprise her role as M and, according to Deadline, the Biutiful actor was offered a starring role. We don't have any details about the role Bardem was offered, but the villain makes perfect sense. He was remarkable as the sociopath hitman who caused murder and mayhem in No Country for Old Men. If he channels that psychosis — coupled with his sexy charisma — we just may have to cheer for the bad guy!

Try to contain your excitement for now because Bardem hasn't officially signed on yet. Chances are, he'll have to choose between this role and another role in The Dark Tower.

The new 007 film marks the 23rd in its franchise and is scheduled to hit theaters in November 2012.

Would you rather see Bardem in the next James Bond flick or in The Dark Tower series? Tell us in the comments or @MTV3.

Fans of TNT's Southland were just as surprised as Kevin Alejandro's character, Detective Nate Moretta, must have been when he was he was struck in the head in a deadly gang confrontation.

Det. Moretta's untimely demise occurred during last Tuesday's episode when a situation that appeared to be under control turned out to be a deadly encounter. Inspired by true events, the unruly gang struck the detective in the head with a metal pipe. The intensity of the scene hit him and his fellow cast-mates hard.

"It affected a lot of us on a personal level," Alejandro told TV Guide. "I can't tell you how many tears there were, especially on my last day. I was crying, Regina King was crying, Shawn; there was a room of people I felt really cared about my character and that I had established a personal relationship with. It's a roller coaster that we all went on together, so it was inevitable that it would be tough."

Why the sudden departure?  Blame scheduling conflicts with his new role on HBO's True Blood. The sexy Mexican actor tried his hand at double acting duties for a while, but the grueling hours began to take a toll.

“Towards the end of Southland, I was three days at Southland, two days at True Blood, just going back and forth, back and forth,” Kevin told Access Hollywood. “Productions were really cool about working it out and making it happen, but True Blood is such a crazy, crazy schedule.”

We're super excited to see how he continues to develop the complex character Jesus, the love interest of Lafayette. Kevin stayed mum about the details, but the fact that he told the True Blood website that he's getting his body in tip-top shape could foreshadow some steamy love scenes.

“Oh dude, everybody on this show is hitting the gym," he said. "Because there’s always that, 'Oh man, it’s gonna come, it’s True Blood, it’s coming. It’s coming, it’s coming!' So yeah, man, I’ve been going through some pretty hardcore exercising lately. But it’s good, though, because I do it in general, but I had to step up my game a lot more....”

Twitter seems to be the forum for feuds between rappers and R&B singers — first The Game and Christina Milian, and now 50 Cent and Ciara.

While most people use the weekends for down time, Fiddy partied at the Playboy Mansion, decided on a possible career change and was involved in an online beef with former flame Ciara. It all started Friday night when 50 Cent logged on to Twitter after a party at the Playboy Mansion, and posted a picture with himself and Hugh Hefner along with the following remarks:

“I just left the play boy mansion. I think I want to be a pimp now. Sh*t I have strong pimp qualities. Lol. I'm looking for girls to start my new line of work. Are there any strong potential hoe's on tweeter right now. Lol”

This obviously didn't sit well with CiCi, who responded by tweeting a message of her own:

“The things people tweet say a lot about their character, pay attention!:)”

We guess the smiley face at the end the message wasn't enough to make light of the assertion because 50 got back at the “Goodies” singer in vulgar fashion:

“Yea I tweet things that reflect my character b*tch. I have a sense of humor get one.lol that's why your 3 mill followers behind me.”

Ouch! Ciara responded directly to 50 Cent, asking

“Who u callin a Bi*tch @50cent?” she tweeted, posting a link to Queen Latifah's hit U.N.I.T.Y., a feminist paean that blasts men for calling women the “B” word. Touché!

Apparently it worked because the self-proclaimed “career killer” called a truce:

“@ciara now I'm not going back n forth with you on twitter now cut it out.”

Is this just a ploy to stay relevant or the case of unresolved relationship issues? Hmmm. We may have to stay tuned to find out.

What do you think about the fued between 50 Cent and Ciara? Tell us in the comments or @MTV3.
