Happy Valentine's Day! Today marks the annual celebration of love and commitment between companions. Although some people turn the occasion into a huge spectacle, many couples express their love with a more modest approach. Here's how some celebrities couples are spending their Valentine's Day.
Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez, who have been married since 2004, say quality time is the secret to the success of their marriage.
“I think we're gonna just steal a couple of hours alone, which would be a luxury for us,” J.Lo told Extra after last night's Grammy Awards. “Yeah, lock ourselves in a room and just have some quiet time.”
LeAnn Rimes and fiancé Eddie Cibrian have also decided to chill out this V-Day.
“We are just going to hang with friends, play Wii and eat pizza,” Rimes told Extra. “Just being with people I love is what counts.”
Kim Kardashian's beau, New Jersey Nets forward Kris Humphries, will be taking on the San Antonio Spurs tonight, so the reality star will be spending her Valentine's Day in Vegas.
“I'm doing a girl's trip to Vegas,” Kimmy K told TV Guide's Chris Harrison. “The boyfriend is busy working so all the girls who have boyfriends or husbands who are working are going to get together and party in Vegas.”
Justin Bieber, whose professional life is booming with today's release of “Never Say Never — The Remixes,” wouldn't say much except that today will be unlike V-Days of the past. Perhaps Disney Princess Selena Gomez will help him break tradition.
“I've been single every Valentine's Day,” Bieber told disneydreaming.com. “I've never been with a girl on Valentine's Day, so yeah, maybe we can change that this year, right?
Presidential couple Barack and Michelle Obama have overcome incredible obstacles in their 19-year marriage. Their commitment withstood the pressures of political ambitions, the public eye and now the presidency, so when the First Lady shells out marriage advice, we should all take notes. What's their secret?
"I think a lot of laughing," first lady Michelle Obama told The Huffington Post. "I think in our house we don't take ourselves too seriously, and laughter is the best form of unity, I think, in a marriage.”
We couldn't agree more.
