No wonder Anthony "Romeo" Santos has been so anxious to break away from Aventura. According to People En Español, Jive Records is expected to pay the bachata frontman $10 million for his first five solo albums. Romeo isn’t wasting any time either, with plans to release the first record by October.
Of course, Romeo’s solo commitments will not mean the end of Aventura. The band already announced plans to release a new album in 2012. Now we understand why.
So far, Lenny, Henry and Max seem fine with the plan and are using their free time to develop individual projects of their own.
"Each one of the guys is focused on individual projects, but the intent is that they return in 2012 or 2013," the group's manager, Johnny Marines, explained.
Jive and its parent company, Sony, are investing a lot of cash into Romeo, so we're curious to see what he comes up with on his own. But we do anticipate plenty of catchy pop singles, a few high-profile duets and maybe even a few tracks in English.
