Shakira Splits with Longtime Boyfriend

All across the world, men are rejoicing. Why? Because after 11 years, Shakira is finally single again!

The Colombian pop star announced this week that she and her longtime Argentine boyfriend, Antonio de la Rua, decided to "take time apart."

Rumors about the couple's status had been circulating for months. Shaki had told reporters in 2009 that she was ready to start a family with de la Rua, but two years later, there was still no wedding and no baby bump. When the pop princess began appearing at events solo, many wondered if the relationship hit a rough patch. Indeed it did. According to a joint statement by Shakira and Antonio, the two broke up back in August.

"During our almost 11 years together we have loved each other deeply, taken care of each other and stood by one another," the couple wrote on Shakira's website. "Antonio continues to oversee and conduct my business and career interests as he has always done. We move forward as partners, developing projects together, working hand in hand and in close communication. Our friendship and understanding of one another is unwavering and indestructible."

At least they ended things more amicably than Ana de la Reguera and Jorge Ramos. But considering that Shakira and Antonio were spotted together in Paris just a few days ago, perhaps they just need time to work it out. In the meantime, we imagine Shakira will have plenty of dating opportunities.
