Let’s be honest, some of us find it pretty hard to resist Twitter. The #FollowFridays, celebrity blurbs and cute little Twitpics make pretty interesting headlines. That’s why it comes as no surprise that former beauty queen Alicia Machado is back in the Twitterverse after announcing that she was leaving the site for good.
Machado generated a lot of heat in November for mistakenly labeling North and South Korea as “the Chinas.” She then responded to criticisms about her intelligence by saying, “I speak three languages and have two university degrees, besides being Miss Universe 14 years ago. Dumb, I am not.”
Even Paulina Rubio got drawn into the drama for defending Alicia’s Tweets.
After angrily canceling her account, Machado seems to have had some second thoughts. Late last month, the actress quietly launched a new Twitter handle and began posting about her latest projects. There have been no major revelations about “the Chinas,” but plenty of hype about her upcoming novela.
Perhaps Alicia began to realize that Twitter isn’t such a bad thing (especially if you have an upcoming television show to promote). Her fans seem to be pretty forgiving too, considering that she's already up to 7,600 followers.
