Something tells us the Burlesque producers won’t be taking Razzie voters on any fun Vegas getaways.
Yes, it's that time of year, when the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation votes for the worst films and performances of 2010. According to The Los Angeles Times, contenders for the year's worst picture are: The Bounty Hunter, Clash of the Titans, The Expendables, Grown Ups, Jonah Hex, Killers, Little Fockers, Sex and the City 2, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Vampires Suck, The Last Airbender and Yogi Bear.
Although Burlesque managed to avoid the worst film nod, it was nominated for several other Razzie awards: Worst screenplay, worst director (Steven Antin), worst supporting actor (Cam Gigandet), worst supporting actress (Kristen Bell and Cher) and worst actress (Christina Aguilera).
And Aguilera isn't the only Latin actor nominated for a Razzie — George Lopez received multiple nominations for Marmaduke and Jessica Alba received one for her performance in Little Fockers.
The Golden Raspberry Awards are nothing to be afraid of. Started in 1981 as somewhat of a joke, the Razzies have become popular among the entertainment industry and are always conducted in good fun. In fact, several big-name actors have accepted their statues in person. Sandra Bullock picked up her Razzie for All About Steve at the 2009 ceremony, the same year she won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in The Blind Side.
So could we expect an appearance from Christina? You never know. We'll have to wait for the Razzie ceremony on February 26 to find out.
