Assaulted Backup Dancer Takes Demi Lovato to Court

It looks like Inside Edition pretty much confirmed the rumor that Demi Lovato punched one of her backup dancers. The TV entertainment magazine published pictures on its website showing Alex Welch with a serious shiner underneath her left eye. According to reports, Welch plans to use the photos as evidence when she takes the Camp Rock star to court.

How serious was the injury? We’re pretty certain that she’ll be going for all of that “emotional stress” stuff. But as far as the physical damage goes, Welch’s lawyer, Donald Karpel, told RadarOnline it’s extensive.

"After the attack, Alex had to get emergency treatment," Karpel said. "She is now consulting a Beverly Hills ears, nose and throat plastic surgeon."

Anyway, according to Alex, the pain runs much deeper than a bruise on the cheek. As she told People,

"To this day, I haven't gotten an apology. I've heard nothing. That's sad if you think that person is your friend."

The real question is, what made Lovato snap in the first place? As far as we could tell, she seemed like your regular, upbeat Disney starlet — until those rumors came out about drugs, alcohol and all kinds of other dirty chisme. While we’re very glad Demi’s had time to calm down in rehab, we can only imagine the kind of anger issues she’ll be dealing with when she sees Welch’s hospital bill!
