Sure, the 53rd annual Grammy Awards are still two months away, but thanks to presenters Selena Gomez and Dave Grohl, we can now start placing our bets on who’s winning what. By the looks of things, Eminem and Bruno Mars are off to a great start.
Slim Shady and his Recovery album scored 10 nominations, but we all knew that was coming, right? Who didn’t love that gorgeous Rihanna duet, which itself picked up five nominations. Em was also nominated for Best Pop Collaboration for “Airplanes Part II” with B.o.B and Hayley Williams.
Of course Eminem won’t be 2011’s only Grammy golden boy. One of our faves, Bruno Mars, scored seven nominations. And that’s not even including his new Doo Wops & Hooligans album (which was released too late to make this year’s cut). He scored for his collaborations with B.o.B., Cee-Lo and The Smeezingtons, not to mention a Best Male Pop Vocal Performance nod for “Just The Way You Are.”
Other performers who got a bit of Grammy love included Justin Bieber and Drake (with Best New Artist nods), Jay-Z (for his “Empire State Of Mind” duet with Alicia Keys) and Lady Gaga (for The Fame Monster). Even Alex Cuba and Ana Tijoux were recognized for their work, with noms for Best Latin Pop Album and Best Latin Rock Album, respectively.
Now, we’ll just have to wait until Feb. 13 to see who takes home the coveted golden Grammys.
