Since it was announced back in the beginning of the year, the Spider-Man reboot has been polarizing movie fanboys all over the “web.” Do we REALLY need a new cast and another origin film for Peter Parker? Even we were unsure about it, until we heard he was getting a Latino Uncle Ben, aka Martin Sheen!

Distinguished, talented, and a lot more than the dad of that Two And A Half Men guy, Martin Sheen’s acting career spans over 40 years. He’s appeared in classic films like Apocalypse Now, Gandhi, and The Departed, and we think he’d be great in the pivotal role as Spider-Man’s father figure.
For those who don’t know about Uncle Ben, he’s just as important to the Spider-Man legend as the costume itself. We all know (SPOILER ALERT) that Ben’s violent death is what makes Peter Parker want to devote his life to fighting crime. Not only that, Ben’s teachings serve as a constant force reminding Spidey to do good.
Our only hope is that they don’t strike down Martin as quick as the other Ben in the 2002 movie. And though we initially had our doubts about the rest of the cast, they too are winning us over. Spidey will be played by Andrew Garfield (who did do a very good job as Eduardo Saverin in The Social Network) and Mary Jane will be redheaded ‘it’ girl Emma Stone. Plus the whole idea of web-slinging in 3D sounds pretty cool too.
Spider Man 3D is set to hit theatres July 3, 2012.
