ABC is remaking the popular '70s hit “Charlie's Angels” and they are looking to put a new spin on the series. The network execs are looking to cast is a multi-ethnic set of angels including an African American and an “exotic” Latina – whatever that means.

The original version of the show about a team of breathtakingly beautiful female private detectives who use their beauty and skills to solve cases, ran from 1976-1981 and starred the late Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith. The team was run by “Charlie”, their mysterious boss. The reboot will have the same premise but will be updated and geared toward a new generation.
Here's a little background for the Latina Angel:
"She's an orphan, an immigrant and a former U.S. Marine. She is a weapons expert and is trained in all forms of hand-to-hand combat. Marisa has a no-nonsense attitude, is a Play Station addict and self-confessed neat freak." Age range is 24-30.
Hhhhmmm, we're thinking Monica Raymund who plays Ria Torres on FOX's “Lie to Me” will be the perfect Latina beauty to pull off the role. “All My Children's” Shannon Kane who plays Natalia Fowler, (Jessie Hubbard's daughter) a no-nonsense detective, would complement Raymund beautifully in an “Angels” role.
We know what you're thinking: remakes of “Knight Rider”, “Bionic Woman” and “Melrose Place” failed so why won't television executives leave old television series' alone? Although the odds aren't in “Angels” favor, we're actually excited about the show's potential. After all, Josh Friedman, who recently worked on “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” is set to be the writer and executive producer.
Two reasons why this might work: One, the Terminator reboot was a success so we know Friedman can take an old idea and make it relevant today and two, he was one of the original series producers so he will be able to add to the shows creative authenticity. Friedman will also work with original series producer Leonard Goldberg and movie producers Drew Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen. This can be a recipe for success or the case of too many cooks in the kitchen. We're hoping for success!
Who do you think will make the perfect “Angels”? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3!
