With all of the violence and civil unrest happening right now, it seems like people often forget what a beautiful and inspiring country Mexico really is. Who doesn’t love its gorgeous beaches (have you BEEN to Cancun?), lush countryside, and cities bustling with activity?
With morale obviously at a low point, Veracruz native Salma Hayek-Pinault filmed a recent PSA to encourage the citizens and inspire them to contribute to the betterment of their homeland. As she put it simply, “Mexico, somos nosotros.”
Filmed in a large movie theater, with full patriotic music in the background, the spot is part of the Inciativa Mexico campaign. Spread across the web via Facebook, Twitter, and its own highly interactive page, the movement urges citizens to stand up and improve their country on an individual basis.
Surprisingly some people have criticized Hayek-Pinault for the spot, saying she hasn’t lived in (or truly cared about) Mexico for years. Obviously that doesn’t make sense, since she wouldn’t have FILMED it if she wasn’t genuinely concerned.
Team Blogamole is behind you Salma!
