Lady Gaga made MTV history Tuesday (August 8) when the nominees for the 2010 Video Music Awards were announced and Gaga received the highest honor as the first artist to ever receive 13 nominations in a single VMA!

As if that's not enough, Gagaloo is also the first female artist nominated for two different videos in the "Video of the Year" category for "Bad Romance" and "Telephone" featuring Beyoncé!
Our SB 1070 protesting vixen rounds out her VMA haul with nods for "Best Pop Video," "Best Female Video" and "Best Dance Music Video" for "Bad Romance."
The humbled Gaga released this statement:
"I'm so honored for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history. Ironically, I'm even more proud it's an unlucky number; 13.
A long time ago the world told me and my little monsters we would never be heard, together we changed the rules. God put me on Earth for 3 reasons: To make loud music, gay videos, and cause a damn raucous. Thank You MTV!"
A bitter Eminem came in second as the year's most nominated male artist garnering eight nods including "Best Male Video," and "Video of the Year" for "Not Afraid."
Eminem weighed in on his VMA disappoinment:
"Apparently MTV doesn't care that I have two massive stadium shows on the other side of the country the day after the VMA's. F me, right?!?! I mean, I'll be there but don't expect me to be nice about it."
Tr3s favorite Enrique Iglesias received a nod for his Jersey Shore collabo con Pitbull "I Like It" for "Best Dance Music Video."
Newcomers Ke$ha, B.o.B, and Drake did pretty well with three, five, and two noms respectively.
Of course, Jay Z and Alicia Keys' anthem "Empire State of Mind" received an impressive three nominations a year later in the "Best Collaboration," "Best Cinematography" and "Best Direction" categories.
The 2010 host, performers and presenters haven't been announced, but you can cast your vote today at vma.mtv.com.
The "2010 MTV Video Music Awards" will air LIVE from Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 9PM (Live ET/Tape delayed PT.)
