Toddlers, tweens, and teens have been obsessed with the lovely Selena Gomez since she began her acting career on "Barney & Friends" and later moved on to become a Disney starlet quickly garnering her own beloved show, "Wizards of Waverly Place." On Thursday (July 22) however, Gomez turned 18 and has more to look forward to than an adult male fan base and lotto tickets...Voting!

Selena Gomez

Selena said in an interview:

"I can vote now, which is exciting! My mom and step-dad are always really involved with voting and I've always said, 'Well, what’s the point of me getting into it if I can’t even vote?'"

On what party she'll choose, Gomez continued:

"I'm not in a specific place. I like to look at both candidates and see what they each have to offer."

Other than her newfound political freedoms, Selena isn't too impressed by becoming a legal adult:

"It’s weird because I don’t feel 18. Everyone keeps saying it’s a big year and I’m like, 'Is it really, though?' "

Gomez and her family will celebrate the big 1-8 this weekend with a down home Texas-style barbecue in California with 250 of her nearest and dearest.

Not quite, though "In The Heights" star and creator Lin-Manuel Miranda isn't ruling it out completely. Rumors surrounding Jennifer Lopez's involvement in the film adaptation of the Tony Award winning musical were fueled after Lopez was seen attending the Broadway show numerous times.

Jennifer Lopez

When asked if Lo was joining the cast during a Ryan Seacrest interview, Miranda corrected the rumors:

"Jennifer Lopez is in no way affiliated with the movie. I’ve read everything from she’s a producer, she’s playing Daniella, she’s playing Vanessa. Here’s the reality: Jennifer Lopez goes to a restaurant and there’s a rumor she’s buying the restaurant."

However, in an interview with Latina after Seacrest, Miranda said he was open to working with La Lopez:

"Hey, she might be in the movie! I never said she wasn't going to be in the movie, I just said she's not affiliated with the movie now."

It’s amazing how much press, radio exposure, and internet love rapper Nicki Minaj is getting considering that she’s yet to released a studio album! Yes, she’s been doing mixed tapes and collaborations for years, but we've been waiting for a full blown LP release.

Thankfully, we won't have to wait too much longer. It's official: start counting down to November 23rd, when Nicki’s still untitled solo debut is set to hit shelves! No word yet on collaborations, but Minaj did let a tidbit slip to EW: “I don’t want to say too much, but I just did some work with will.i.am .. Just something for my album that I’m really excited about,” is all she’ll say.

Nicki Minaj

It’s pretty obvious that her skills are admired by the fans and the peers. And with the visual imagery she’s instilled in her new “Your Love” video, we anticipate even more followers flocking to team Nicki.

The red colors, the sexy Asian themes, it’s even got a few karate chops! And for those observing the undertones, did you notice the duel at the end of the video? Perhaps a nod to the current beef she’s got with Lil' Kim?

We can only speculate, but after Kim’s declaration of “War” on the Cash Money label, it seems like a subtle battle may be brewing. Thankfully Nicki’s keeping it all positive and sharing massive love with her nearly 1 million Twitter fans!

“ Thank u guys very much for the feedback on the Video. #YourLove means the world to me.”

It doesn't hurt that Minaj has some major co-signers in her corner; M.I.A. told L.A. radio station KIIS FM that Nicki “runs hip-hop.” When talking to the Huffington Post, John Legend said, “I feel like this is Nicki’s time right now.”

For more from Nicki Minaj, check her out in this exclusive "2010" video preview.

Christina Aguilera premiered her latest single "You Lost Me" today (July 22) to glowing reviews. This emotionally powerful ballad — the second single off her Bionic LP — shows the return of the diva to her "Beautiful" days.

Dressed casually in black with painted red lips and new strawberry-blonde hair, the song opens with:

"I am done/ Smoking gun/ We've lost it all/ The love is gone/ She has won/ Now its no fun/ We've lost it all/ The love is gone."

The break-up ballad continues with black mascara streaming down Xtina's face as she cries in the desert. The video closes with the singer finding the "light," clad in white, seemingly past her misery:

"Now I know you're sorry/ And we were sweet/ Oh, but you chose lust when you deceived me/ And you'll regret it, but it's too late/ How can I ever trust you again?

I feel like our world's been infected/ And somehow you left me neglected/ We've found our lives been changed/ Oh babe, you lost me."

Christina shared these details with Entertainment Tonight on the set of her video:

“What I wanted was a very raw and real feeling. Your relationship with this person is sort of being destroyed right before your eyes.. This video will take you from a very dark place ... [but] pretty soon you'll see me build my strength."

Well, she certainly achieved that raw feeling. Hopefully this strong ballad and stellar video will help Aguilera's Bionic album pick up in sales.

The LP came in 3rd on the Billboard 200 when it debuted in June and sold a disappointing 111,000 in its first week out, her lowest selling album. Her summer tour has also been canceled due to poor album sales, though inadequate rehearsal time between the album's release and tour dates is the "official" reason.

Either way, we love this new/old Christina!

By now, you’ve probably heard about the many entertainers — both Latino and mainstream — que se han unido en apoyo a los residentes inmigrantes de Arizona como parte del Sound Strike. The initiative, started by Zack de la Rocha, is an agreement by celebs who refuse to perform in the state as long as the controversial new bill SB 1070 is enforced.

Since Arizona’s bill will officially go into effect on July 29th, Rage Against the Machine is performing for The Sound Strike this Friday (July 23rd) at the Hollywood Palladium, as part of a “Stop SB 1070 Benefit Show.” This will be RATM’s first Los Angeles concert in the past ten years!

RATM

Proceeds are to provide resources for activist organizations looking to overturn the legislation and provide legal defense for Arizona residents.

Among the celebs joining the Arizona boycott are Miami-based alternative fusion rockers Locos Por Juana. We spoke to them at this year’s Latin Alternative Music Conference, and here’s what they had to say about SB1070 and joining The Sound Strike:

There was definitely a consensus among the artists at this year's LAMC that immigration reform is necessary, but they also agreed that Arizona’s SB 1070 is not the answer.

What’s your stance on Arizona’s SB 1070? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3!

Looks like Aventura's got some competition! Bronx-born bachatero Prince Royce is already selling out concerts with his contemporary Latin pop rhythms.  After his successful debut performance at last week's "Premios Juventud," Royce arrives in Europe this week to begin his sold-out tour!

Prince Royce

Tr3s' former Descubre and Download Artist humbly shared this statement:

"I am extremely surprised by the love I have received from the Spaniards and Italians. It is something I would have never imagined. It is the first time I ever visit Europe and my tour here is completely sold-out. . . It is a blessing!"

Royce's single "Stand By Me" has dominated Spanish and Italian airwaves even before the 20-year-old stepped foot on the continent. And that's not all..  the bilingual bachata 1961 Ben E. King classic remake recently reached #2 on Tropical Radio and #1 in Digital Tropical Single sales, and remained there for several weeks.

The track has also received such wide acceptance that it's being played on many English-language Hip Hop/ Pop stations, marking the first time a bachata song has achieved this honor!

We have Prince Royce concert dates for you, after the jump!

Eight Grand Slam titles, a gold medal from the Olympics, and over $32 million won in prize money — yes, at 24 you can say that Spanish tennis pro Rafael Nadal has accomplished a lot. But the one title he hasn’t earned yet is champ of the U.S. Open.

When the legendary tennis tourney kicks off on August 30, New York will be swarming with fans eager to see hotshots like Serena Williams, Roger Federer, and Andy Roddick — but who will the media darling? We're betting on Rafael!

Rafael Nadal

Currently ranked No. 1 in the world, this superstar’s been winning championships for over eight years (since he was 15!) and racked up a fan base like you wouldn’t believe. As we all know, Spain is riding high right now after that World Cup win, so if hometown hero Rafa takes the cup, it’ll be huge!

Sports critics think Nadal is more than capable of walking off the court victorious. And they claim the only reason he hasn’t won in the past was due to poor timing issues (burnout, conflicts, etc). But with all the prepping he’s been doing, this could be Rafa’s year.

One thing Nadal has in his favor is that defending champ (and fellow Spaniard) Juan Martin del Potro won’t be competing. But that still leaves arch rival Roger Federer to deal with. Fresh from his ESPY win, Roger’s taken home five U.S. Open titles and has a long history of on-the-court beef with Rafael.

Anyone remember their Wimbledon ’08 battle? Tennis legend John McEnroe called it “the greatest match he’s ever seen”. Going on nearly five hours, Rafa emerged victorious, which only added fire to the rivalry.

We think Rafa’s got a great shot at winning this year, but tennis can be very unpredictable. So start working out those neck muscles, because there is going to be a LOT of back and forth action going down at NY’s Billie Jean King courts this September!

Oliver Stone must be in a sequel state of mind. He’s already out promoting Shia LaBeouf in the new “Wall Street” movie, but as the original writer of “Scarface,” does Stone have another comeback in the works?

The director recently shared this statement with Total Film:

“It’s been great to go back with 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.' I should go back and do “Son of Scarface” or something.”

Scarface

“Son of Scarface”? Now that’s a concept we could get excited about!. As everybody knows, Tony Montana is one of the most beloved bad guys in movie history. Don’t lie fellas, we’ve all had his poster up in our pad at least one time in our lives.

As we all know, Tony met a violent end back in the original flick. BUT…there was always that rumor that Michelle Pfeiffer’s character was pregnant and she did in fact survive. So, could Tony Jr. be an up-and-coming 20something in Miami right now?

You’re off to a good start, Oliver Stone (although we think a Tony Montana prequel would be pretty cool too). Maybe instead of spending all that time with Hugo Chavez, you should get back to the computer and crank out our long-awaited "Scarface 2"!

Taio Cruz is officially on our summer radar. Back in February, his “Break Your Heart” track literally broke records by becoming one of the largest chart jumps ever for a debut artist (from #53 to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100). With his new song “Dynamite,” he’s got yet another Top 10 single he can brag about.

“Dynamite” is perfect “get-ready” music to amp you up before a hot night out. You can tell Taio had a big budget to back this one up; there’s fireworks, phat motorcycles, tons of beautiful people dancing in the club, and, of course, Taio blinged out in black shades.

The junkyard theme is original and very sexy (what guy doesn’t love seeing half naked hotties working on cars?). There are no actual dynamite explosions, but he does have some cool imagery of a car spark shower from behind the stage (kudos, Mr. video director). We’ve got to give Taio some big props on this one. “Dynamite” lived up to the hype!
