For most young Latinas, turning 15 and celebrating their quinceañera marks the moment when a little girl becomes a woman. This special milestone fiesta generally takes several months or even years to plan. There is always too much to decide: at home or at a venue? Should the cake be chocolate or strawberry? Beef, chicken or maybe tamales for dinner? To have a DJ and play some Banda or Electronica? Who to invite, and for sure, to NOT invite, y claro, the main subject: The Dress.

In this season's premiere (July 19) episode of "Quiero Mis Quinces," it was Jackelyn’s turn to celebrate her quinces a lo grande!
After a long day that started early in the morning with hair, nails and make-up, la quinceañera arrived at the venue around 4:30pm to make sure everything was perfect and to receive all her guests. The first thing we noticed upon our arrival at the venue was her purple and white dress.

These are Jackelyn's favorites colors and she made sure she was the only person at her party rocking them. La quinceañera seemed very nervous after a long day and even longer days of planning to make sure her dream of a perfect quinceañera came true.
The tables, the food, the DJ, everything looked great, but as her parents and sister Stephanie mentioned, getting to this point wasn’t easy: “She changed her mind a lot with everything, but today, all that is worth it.”
Family and friends started to arrive. At the entrance, there was a guest book for friends and family to sign in and leave a special note for Jackelyn.

The chambelanes are one of the main traditions of Quinceañeras and Jackelyn wanted hers to be noticed. Dressed in a retro look with white pants and shirts with blue or green colored vests and ties, her closest friends and family were given the honor to be with the Quinceañera at the main table.
Finally, the ballroom was full and Jackelyn’s table started to fill up with presents. The guests enjoyed chicken and some drinks for dinner, and the music started the set the mood for the party.
This Quinceañera was full of surprises! The first one was a slide show projected on a big screen. With sighs, joy and laughs the guests enjoyed pictures of Jackelyn as a baby, in high school, with her friends, on family vacations, and other touching moments from her life.
Afterward, it was time for Jackelyn’s grand entrance. She was presented with her muñeca and then she performed the traditional dance with her father. Friends and family enjoyed the moment and we could see a very moved Gabriela watching her daughter dancing con su papá.
And with that, the party officially began! The venue was packed; friends danced to the latest hit songs, family told stories at the tables, and the younger kids ran around. At one point, guests kept accidentally stepping on Jackelyn’s dress to the point that they almost ruined it, but this was all part of the great party and everyone, including Jackelyn, was having a great time.

Far from a simple girl, Jackelyn wanted to have a few more surprises for her guests. The first one began with the sound of the drum as Jackelyn and some of her friends appeared, dressed in traditional Aztec costumes con plumas y todo, to perform an Aztec dance to remember her ancestors and give thanks to all the elements for her special day.
After that, it was time for a “shadow show.” Jackelyn delivered a great performance in the shadows behind a white curtain to the tune of one of Shakira’s latest hits. After that, a Lady Gaga dance. With the help of her friends, Jackelyn performed a choreographed dance to Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” - complete with a yellow and purple outfit that made her guests scream for more!

Finally, Jackelyn experienced the biggest surprise of the night, a special gift from her parents. Inviting all the guests to the dance floor, Gabriela introduced the special guest: Christopher Von Uckermann (of RBD), who walked across the room to the stage to say hello and Happy Birthday to Jackelyn!
Con una sonrisa de oreja a oreja, Jackelyn and her friends enjoyed Christopher’s performance of his latest hits. A special moment was when Christopher dedicated one of his songs especially to Jackelyn. She had the opportunity to meet with him backstage, where she got a picture with the artist and even a big kiss on her cheek.
The night was full of surprises and fun for Jackelyn and her guests. Some additional highlights were a big toast to celebrate the Quinceañera and the cutting of the cake, made especially by Jackelyn’s mother.

The party went on until midnight, fueled by Jackelyn's DJ who played the best hits; some pop songs, techno and more. All the guests where dancing, including the little ones who where screaming, dancing and even toasting en honor de Jackelyn.
Up until the last guest left, Jackelyn enjoyed her Quinceañera just as she dreamed it. Now it;ss time for her to continue living her life como toda una señorita... but always her way, of course!
