So let us get this straight: Beautiful, confident, and talented Demi Lovato actually used to get bullied when she was in school?! The answer is YES, and because of all those things, she’s turning out to be a great spokesperson against getting picked on.
The truth of the matter of is, anyone can be a victim of bullying. And having someone with Demi’s high profile speak out about it is a great way to spread awareness about the impact it’s having on America’s kids. She recently teamed with the PACER Center to spread the word about Teens Against Bullying.
Demi told the New York Post, “Bullying is a very serious thing to me, I’ve witnessed it first hand — I was bullied myself when I was 12. I want to be able to help other girls around [my sister’s] age come into their own with a strong confidence in their skin, their size, who they are and everything about themselves.”
In case you weren’t aware, there have been some very high-profile bullying cases making the news right now. One in particular, led 15-year-old Phoebe Price to commit suicide. Are the bullies responsible? We’ll leave that to the judges, but the point is, it’s happening and it’s affecting millions of kids.
That’s why we’re totally backing the PACER campaign that Demi’s involved with. Its purpose is to teach teens how to identify, respond, and take action when confronted with bullying. They’ve even gone so far as to declare October National Bullying Prevention Month.
Way to go guys, it’s time to take a stand and keep that lunch money for ourselves!
