In our latest installment of Deep Thoughts, Blogamole contributor Michael Lopez straight up insults Robert Rodriguez, claiming Roberto Orci as the most shot callin' Latino in Hollywood.

Hayek Pinault, Rodriguez… Yeah, those names carry some weight in Hollywood, but none of them have more pull right now than Orci. No, Roberto Orci isn’t an up-and-coming actor or a hotshot movie director, he’s actually one of the most in-demand writers in the business with a blockbuster count that’s taken in over a billion dollars!

Born in Mexico City, Roberto moved to the states when he was 10-years-old and not long after met his future writing partner Alex Kurtzman. After college and a couple years of paying dues, these two were climbing the scribe ladder with stints on shows like “Hercules,” “Xena,” and “Alias.”
From then on, it was all gravy. Hot scripts for movies like “The Legend Of Zorro” and “Mission Impossible III” shot them to the big time and opened the doors for their most high-profile projects yet!

Ahem… “Transformers” Parts 1 and 2! “Star Trek”! These were like the biggest box office hits of the past few summers, which begs the question… What’s Roberto cooking up next?
How about the highly anticipated adaptation of the “Cowboys and Aliens” comic, produced by Steven Spielberg?! And yes, the “Star Trek” sequel is coming too. Orci recently sat down with IGN to hype his latest projects:
“[Cowboys and Aliens] is going great. Talk about a lucky cast, man. And we're not done yet. Harrison Ford! What do you want?! It's amazing.”
And what does he have planned for Star Trek 2?
“I think maybe thematically, because we don't have the burden of an origin story, we can play a little bit more with the theme and it can be a little bit more complicated. But I still think we like fun. Star Trek has always been funny.”
And that’s just the beginning. The powerhouse team of Kurtzman and Orci are also producing a “Hawaii Five-0” TV reboot for the fall, overseeing the FOX hit “Fringe”, and are bound to rake in TONS of royalty cash from “Transformers 3”! So keep your eyes on those credits after the movie, because sometimes the most influential Latinos aren’t the ones onscreen or in the director's chair.
