First things first, Oracle Paul the Octopus was right! Who knew a playful sea creature could have such powers? In other cutie news, after Spain won the 2010 World Cup, their goalkeeper Iker Casillas gave an emotional interview to his reporter girlfriend Sara Carbonero. When his lady tried to calm him, he interrupted her by saying "a ti" and then went in for a big on camera kiss... How adorable!
Before Spain's historic win, Shakira got the party started in South Africa yesterday (July 11), when she kicked off the 2010 World Cup Closing Ceremony with an high-energy performance of the tournament's official anthem “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).”

Shaki's hip-shaking set came after a fabulous lights and fireworks show, that also included a military flyover. Donned in a day-glo colored Roberto Cavelli outfit, the Colombian songstress looked absolutely amazing!
Joining Shakira onstage during the performance were members of Freshlyground. Other performances included a set by Grammy-Award winning Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
Rightfully so, the sports fans reserved their loudest cheers and applause for former South African President Nelson Mandela, accompanied by his wife Graca Machel, who waved to the crowd.
The best part of the 2010 World Cup??? Following the ceremony, Spain defeated Netherlands 1-0 in extra time, marking the first time Spain has every won a World Cup. Scoring the only goal in the match was Andres Iniesta, taking a pass from Cesc Fabregas and putting in a right-footed shot past the outstretched arms of goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg. “When I struck it, it just had to go in,” Iniesta said of the goal.
Although the game wasn't pretty with a finals record 13 yellow cards handed out a win is a win regardless, of how it's attained.
The crowd cheered, applauded, jumped, screamed, and cried to celebrate their team's win. Celebrities joined in on the congratulations via twitter.
After their victory, blasé Ashton Kutcher shared this tweet:
“The teams that I wanted to win have long been eliminated but this has been a great world cup.”
His wife Demi, on the other hand, was a little more enthused:
“Oooooh congrats to Spain!”
Mark Consuelos chimed in on the World Cup twitter buzz:
“Congrats Espana!!!!!”
The busiest may in Hollywood, Ryan Seacrest, made time to contribute a World Cup tweet:
“Congrats #esp and thank u #worldcup for bringing the world a little closer together. Brazil 2014...let's go!!”
Speaking of “making time,” Shakira also plugged a little time in her very busy schedule to tweet AND post a twitpc of herself and the very beautiful Charlize Theron:
“With Charlize Theron celebrating at the end of the world cup! Con Charlize Theron celebrando el final de la Copa!”

Shakira also shared this statement about her World Cup experience:
"I think this whole month that I spent in South Africa has been so inspiring, so stimulating, one of the happiest months of my life in recent years. It's been so exciting to wake up every morning looking forward to the matches, looking forward to the newspaper just to open the sports section because I became such a football fanatic.
The people of South Africa are definitely the highlight of this World Cup. They're amazing, they're so joyful, expressive and affectionate. I've been feeling the love since the first day I arrived, every day more and more. For the first time of my life, I arrived at immigration and I saw the immigration officers actually dancing and singing the Waka Waka. It's been such an amazing experience."
While most will remember this World Cup for its positive historical contributions, fans will also be left to recall the horrific bombing that occurred in Uganda, killing 74 people who were watching the World Cup Final on TV.
At a wrap-up news briefing Monday in South Africa, FIFA President Sepp Blatter denounced the violence against fans watching the game.
"Can you link it to the World Cup? I don't know... Whatever happened, linked or not linked, it is something that we all should condemn."
According to BBC News, The police say they believe the attacks were well coordinated and intended to cause the maximum possible damage as they targeted huge crowds of people watching the match.
Team Blogamole will be following updates from Uganda, so stay tuned for more information.
