Johnny Depp has played such an array of characters (“Edward Scissorhands,” “Donnie Brasco,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Public Enemies,” etc.) that you could almost call him a chameleon. So, isn't it about time he played one?
Depp and "Pirates of the Caribbean" pal Gore Verbinski are teaming up again for Paramount's animated feature, “Rango.” The movie will realize the dreams of millions of women worldwide, as it casts Johnny as a household pet! The talented hottie plays the title character "Rango" and is described by Verbinski as “a chameleon with an identity crisis [. . . who] fancies himself a hero and is thrust into a crazy set of circumstances where he becomes one.”
Isla Fisher, Timothy Olyphant, and Claudia Black will also lend their voices to the film.
Although we feel that another Depp and Verbinski pair-up can only yield good results (and it'll be fun to hear Johnny's voice work), the trailer seems a bit strange! But hey, that's to be expected from such an unorthodox actor.
"Rango" is set to hit theaters on March 4, 2011.
Where do you think "Rango" will rank in Johnny Depp's list of unusual performances? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3!
