The only thing better than knowing we are in store for back-to-back epic comic-based flicks is this latest chisme: According to Latinoreview.com, Marvel is planning to introduce lesser-known characters like "Doctor Strange," "Black Panther" and "Luke Cage" through a series of 10-minute short films, building up to the release of "Thor," "Captain America: The First Avenger," and "The Avengers."

This is brilliant way for Marvel to promote their new films while introducing these characters, allowing them to test storylines for interest without blowing millions of dollars on an entire film. We accept the challenge!

Dr. Strange

There are so many questions that come along with chisme like this. Who will direct and star in the shorts? I know we're jumping the gun here but our anticiption is in full gear!

Here's what we do know: "Thor," set to release May 6, 2011, will star Chris Hemsworth as Thor, as well as Natalie Portman, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, and Renee Russo.

"Captain America: The First Avenger," set to release July 22, 2011, will star Chris Evans as Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones.

"The Avengers," set to release May 4, 2012, will star Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man (of course), Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, and Samuel L. Jackson. Rumored to join the cast is Scarlett Johanssen, Don Cheadle, and "The Hulk"'s Edward Norton.

WE. ARE. SO. EXCITED!!!

Although Don Omar didn't win his round of La Super Copa Tr3s, Team Blogamole has to give him major props. Not only does he know how to fire up a party with his "iDon" ways, but as the spokesperson for the 2010 Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards, the reggaetonero also encourages Latino youth to receive a college education — with free money!

The King of Kings is speaking out to all Latino high school juniors, encouraging them to apply to leadership grants funded by the Hispanic Heritage Foundation. Three lucky students will be selected in each of the following academic categories, including Math & Engineering, Education, Business, Science, Community Service, and others that will soon be announced.
Don Omar

The hitmaker spoke out about his involvement in this program:

"I am calling on Latino youth to step up and be role models and leaders to help move the Latino community forward. The Hispanic Heritage Foundation is focused on not simply recognizing young leaders but putting them in a position from which to lead and positively affect others in the future.

Education, community service and entering the workforce in a strong position are essential for the future of America, not just the Latino community. We’re counting on our youth and I believe we’re in good hands."

Want to be a part of this amazing opportunity? You still have until July 1 to apply! The applications for the 2010 Youth Awards are now available at www.hispanicheritage.org. Buena suerte!!!

Want to sink your teeth into even MORE Benicio? True, the long anticipated arrival of Benicio Del Toro’s "The Wolfman" movie didn’t quite live up to the hype. Problems with pacing and an undeveloped plot left this potential blockbuster with a lot less “bite” than we had hoped for.

But for anyone willing to give it a second chance, last week’s release of the unrated director’s cut DVD will give Del Toro fans a lot more to chew on. An additional 20 minutes of footage, two alternate endings, and tons of insight into Benicio’s beastly transformation should leave fans howling for more! ;)

The Wolfman

As we all remember, that first chunk of the movie was utterly confusing. Now with the added scenes, we get a TON of Benicio backstory, which actually helps to understand his mindset later in the film. And we won’t lie, there’s also a lot more blood and guts.

Although this new release won't turn "The Wolfman" into a four-star masterpiece, it’s still great for a late night scare and there are some awesome documentaries about how they put it all together.

Don’t worry Benicio, we know your werewolf can take out "Twilight"’s Taylor Lautner any day of the week! RESPECT.

We have been keeping Ana Tijoux on our radar for good reason. The Chilean MC is known for creating a new golden age for Spanish hip-hop and has just announced her U.S. tour, which kicks off in July.

If you haven't heard about the raptress just yet, then check out her single "Despabilate." The track featured in her album "Kaos" introduces a poetic roughness coupled with smooth electronic beats. Besides becoming a fast favorite among underground fans, Ana's unique style has even received props from Radiohead's Thom Yorke!

Ana Tijoux

Nominated by the MTV Latin America VMAs for "Best New Artist" and Best Urban Artist," Tijoux was introduced to mainstream audiences after her musical collaboration with another Tr3s favorite, Mexican rock star Julieta Venegas on her hit track, "Eres Para Mi." Her latest U.S. debut album "1977" has also received plenty of buzz for gracefully mixing jazz, hip-hop, and sophisticated lyrics. We think Ana describes her style best:

"I wanted to make a straightforward record, just good lyrics, good beats, good samples and good scratching. that's it."

Check out Ana Tijoux's U.S tour dates, after the jump!

Celebrity perfumes stock store shelves even more than designer brands nowadays. Shakira is the perfect example of why the formula works. Just ask yourself, who wouldn't want to smell like the Colombian star?

Shaki launched her second fragrance simply titled "S" yesterday (June 23), which includes the perfect balance of seductive aromas like benzoin, amber, vanilla, fresh wood and jasmine.

Shakira at 'S' perfume photo call

During the launch in Madrid, Shakira described what fans can expect from her new fragrance:

"Like a song, a perfume is composed of different individual notes, which together form a harmony."

Shakira 'S' perfume

Interesting. Sounds like spraying "S" is going to be as much fun as doing the "Waka, Waka" dance! Question is, do you think it will beat out other celebrity scents like Beyonce's bestselling "Heat" or Paulina Rubio's "Oro"? You be the judge!

It’s hard to believe, but in a society filled with YouTube clips, video games, and zillions of cable channels, reading just might be making a comeback. How do we know this? Just look at the stats for Apple’s iPad (3 million units sold) and the extra hot Kindle device (Amazon’s biggest seller!).

Now that we have the power to tote hundreds of books on the go, reading is “chic” again. Latina Magazine recently released their official summer reading recommendations. Here are a few we can’t wait to get digital with:

The Firefly Letters

The Firefly Letters
Margarita Engle’s book of poetry-inspired writing is actually based on historical events surrounding a Swedish activist’s journey to 1800’s Cuba.

Try To Remember
Author Iris Gomez channels a bit of her own history into this intriguing semi-autobiographical tale. It offers a harsh, yet inspiring look at growing up as a Colombian immigrant in 1970’s America.

The Madonnas Of Echo Park
Brando Skyhorse’s debut novel is already getting tons of buzz. Set in SoCal’s Mexican-heavy Echo Park district, it illustrates the highs and lows of LA’s cultural melting pot.

We have more tantalizing new summer reading options for you, after the jump!

Pharrell of N.E.R.D. has taken the “No-one Ever Really Dies” mantra to the next level. Rocking fur in the summer heat for their latest video, "Hot-n-Fun," this bouncy track featuring Nelly Furtado has the boys bringing a party to the chaotic desert. Dehydration be damned! This tune is the first single from N.E.R.D.'s upcoming album, Nothing.

Hot-n-Fun

A “hypnotising baseline“ follows N.E.R.D. as they cruise the highway in a psychedelic whip. The trio (Pharrell, Hugo, and Shay) pick up hitchhiking ladies (who, based on their outfits, need some survivalist training) on their way to a party. Upon reaching their destination, there are more — you guessed it — barely-clothed women dancing around a bonfire (someone call Bear Grylls!). Add to that a few bars of Nelly Furtado singing “Hot n Fun”, “Look at You”, “Look at Me,” Pokemon-inspired cartoon drawings randomly flashed across the screen, and there you have it! Hot. Fun. We get it.

The video is pretty simple, which is a bit of a disappointment considering it was directed by Jonas Akerlund, the man behind Lady Gaga's “Telephone” and “Paparrazi”. Maybe he was just following orders — after all, Pharrell's lyrics ring true: “People dont think no more/they just want to feel/they want to let go.”

We just hope N.E.R.D.'s Nothing is about something! Nothing hits stores on September 7.

In case you missed our first announcement: Wisin y Yandel fans, your sueños have come true! The dynamic duo are planning to ignite their second "La Revolución" US Tour starting at El Paso County Coliseum in El Paso, Texas on July 22nd.

After completing their sold out tour in fifteen cities last year, including New York and Miami, the "Abusadora" stars have decided to hit up additional cities and show fans that their musical revolution is still alive.

Wisin Y Yandel

The talented Boricuas are the first and only reggaeton group to also make history by selling out Madison Square Garden, Radio City, and the Staple Center in Los Angeles. Wisin y Yandel may have ticket sales in the US on lock, but Latin America has also embraced them after having record breaking audiences in Mexico and Argentina.

Yandel shouted out his thoughts about their upcoming US tour:

"Nos sentimos orgullosos de poder presentar nuestros conciertos de costa a costa incluyendo en ciudades en las cuales pocos artistas latinos logran presentarse."

"We feel proud to be able to present our concerts coast to coast, including cities that most artists don't get the chance to present in."

Salma is back in full force! It seems like just yesterday she was escaping a killer snake, but the brave & beautiful star recently shared another squirmy encounter: EATING BUGS!
Salma Hayek Pinault
While promoting her upcoming films on "The Late Show," Salma gave cooking advice that had the audience rolling and sent the web buzzing. What was it? A few recipes that aren't likely to make it onto "Top Chef" anytime soon.

Never one to shy away from controversy (remember that breast-feeding incident?), Mrs. Hayek Pinault shared this tasty tidbit:

"We Mexicans eat bugs, but we don't eat horses. We have many recipes for some of them. Escamoles, which are eggs of these little ants-fried, they are amazing with a little bit of guacamole. And the worms-I'm salivating, they're delicious. It's all in the way they cook it, the little grasshoppers have a smokey flavor to them and it's really good."

Nothing wrong with having an open mind when it comes to the dinner table. C'mon, if you really think about it, don't you think a smokey grasshopper does less damage to the arteries than one of those quadruple bacon cheeseburgers?

Go, Salma!

"Grown Ups" hits theaters this Friday (June 25)!
