So after tons of casting changes, development issues, and tabloid drama, it looks like the long-awaited "Green Hornet" is finally headed to theaters. After watching the just-released trailer, we’ve got to wonder… Should it have stayed on the drawing board a little bit longer?
Granted, the action looks incredible and you can obviously tell they’ve backed it up with a phat budget, but something about the cast seems a bit off; Cameron Diaz as a love interest for Seth Rogan?! We're having a hard time seeing that...
Team Blogamole has a lot of love for Seth Rogan, but the idea of having him play a party boy turned hardcore superhero still needs to grow on us. Maybe if they were going for straight comedy it would make sense, but this seems like it could be heading into wannabe "Dark Knight" territory.
We're going to keep an open mind about this. We love the fact that "The Green Hornet" has some diverse leads like Jay Chou (filling Bruce Lee’s shoes) and Edward James Olmos!
We guess we’ll have to wait until January 2011 to find out if it all gels. Will Rogan's character have any "Pineapple Express" predilections? Time will reveal...

Team Blogamole has kept close tabs on the 2010 FIFA World Cup standings. Now, with the elimination Round of 16 approaching, even celebrities aren't immune to World Cup fever!

Shakira has been posting Twitpics since Day 1 of the World Cup, sharing Copa love from all over the world. Juanes twitter his disappointment for Mexico earlier this week: "triste por México .. felicidades para Uruguay y con toda Argentina !! Esa copa es para los latinos o España !!"
Teams are still battling it out to advance to the Round of 16. Here's what you need to know:
Round of 16 Day 1 (Saturday, June 26)
Winner of Group C plays runner up of Group D:
The U.S., claiming the number 1 spot in Group C after an exciting victory against Algeria Wednesday, (June 23) will battle against second seeded Ghana from Group D on Saturday in Port Elizabeth.

“Rock n Gol” star Akon took to Twitter, closely following the games:
“I still have hope for our African teams...” but still showed good sportsmanship congratulating the US in their win against Algeria “Big up to USA and ENG for their wins today.”
It's all good Akon, the US has Nick Jonas's excitement to rally behind. He showed his support for the U.S. from the very beginning, tweeting “Let's go USA!!!!!” with literally over 110 exclamation marks! Trust us, we counted.

Team Blogamole is excited to announce that we've got a whole lotta Nelly on MTV Tr3s! Starting TODAY (June 24) at 5:30 PM ET, we officially kicked off "Qui & Ey w/Nelly Furtado"! This special 30-minute interview session is a treat for fans, leading up to the exclusive premiere of Nelly's video, "Bajo Otra Luz," on July 1!
Don't worry, "Qui & Ey w/Nelly Furtado" will air again on June 28 at 2:30 PM ET. We are also sharing a special 30-minute video block of Nelly's hits on Friday (June 25) at 1 PM ET and Monday (June 28) at 2 PM ET, along with the "Bajo Otra Luz" premiere on July 1! Are you as psyched as we are???
"Bajo Otra Luz" is the 3rd single from Nelly’s Spanish-language record, Mi Plan. The track features guest vocalist La Mala Rodriguez, who also appears in the video.

According to the video shoot team, "Bajo Otra Luz" was filmed in an alleyway in a part of Toronto called "little Italy." They filmed 20 costumes and had only enough time for 1 take per costume.

Going to the costume house was an adventure! The employees were giving tips and ideas about each look. Nelly actually dressed up in all the costumes, even the ones where you can't see her face. They told her someone else could dress in the costumes, but she said she would know the truth.... Now that’s a true artist!
Don't miss the exclusive MTV Tr3s premiere of "Bajo Otra Luz" on July 1, only on MTV Tr3s!

It’s hard to believe that tomorrow (June 25) marks the one year anniversary of Michael Jackson’s passing. There’s absolutely no doubt that interest in The King of Pop continues to grow; his estate has raked in nearly $1 billion since last June!
When CBS decided to create an all-star tribute for Friday’s (June 25) "Early Show," it was only natural for tons of music royalty to throw in their support. Both Marc Anthony and Christina Aguilera are scheduled to appear, along with LL Cool J, Smokey Robinson, and more!

The famous participants had glowing statements about the man who meant so much. Aguilera told the Daily Star, “Music wouldn't be what it is without someone like Michael Jackson. I remember going to my high school talent show singing 'The Way You Make Me Feel' and being a huge fan of his album Bad. I know all my dancers wouldn't be behind me dancing if it weren't for that."
Marc Anthony continued the praise by saying, "A Michael Jackson comes around literally once in a lifetime. They break the mold and I think there are people who just sacrifice their life, their personal life all for the arts. That's what Michael did; he sacrificed his life for the arts.”
All of the final tribute details still have yet to be released (though we did get word that Brit crooner James Morrison will be doing "Man In The Mirror" live), but you can bet with all of this up tempo A-list talent, it’s going to be one hell of a celebration!
The Michael Jackson Tribute starts at 7 AM EST this Friday on CBS’ "Early Show." The entire 8 a.m. hour, billed as “The King of Pop: One Year Later,” will also see Smokey Robinson, Harry Smith, Maggie Rodriguez, Julie Chen & Co. hosting a special tribute performance by James Morrison in London.

Team Blogamole attended the June 21 screening of Oliver Stone’s film, “South of the Border”. The controversial doc — which Stone filmed and edited during the course of making two narrative features and a 10-hour documentary he’s still working on — attempts to show Latin America in a different light. Calling mainstream American media's coverage of Chávez "awful," Stone explores Latin America's shift toward socialism, led by the Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez.
Chávez may not technically be a dictator, but he is an oppressive force who in the past has arrested people for “committing acts of journalism.” This has raised questions as to how Stone was able to make a truthful film with such unprecedented access.

The ongoing controversy over their relationship was made evident at Monday's screening. When Mr. Stone emerged from a black Cadillac Escalade, he was met with boos from a string of protesters who were mostly from Venezuela. One carried a sign that read, "How much did Chávez pay you?" and the group began to chant "Liar! Liar! Liar!" as the filmmaker made his way into the theater. One protester, Manuel Kohn, a man who fled Venezuela, told MTV Tr3s that 80% of the country is poor and suffering.

Another protester, filmmaker Gladys Bensimon, told MTV Tr3s that she is a native of Caracas, Venezuela. She said, “I have seen what is really going on in Venezuela, a beautiful country that is rich with resources and natural wealth.” Kohn and Benimon shared a very different view than those depicted in "South of the Border."

If you’ve got 2 million people clinging to your every thought, let's face it — you are a celebrity. If there was any doubt before, it looks like pop star and actress Demi Lovato is famous on the Internets. Joining the ranks of BFF Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga (who has over 4 million followers!), and Justin Bieber, she’s now part of their exclusive Twitter club, proving to the world that she’s got some hardcore star power.
Have you ever actually fathomed how large the number 2,000,000 really is? Believe it or not, that number is more than the entire state populations of Hawaii and West Virginia!

So, what do you get when you follow Demi? Cool Twitpics, convos with other celebs, and legitimate insights from the lady herself:
“OMG 2,000,000 FOLLOWERS?!?!! I JUST SAW THIS!!! I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!!!
BEST way to start my day!!!!”
From the fun-loving attitude of these Tweets, we can see why it's so much fun to be a fan. And it’s got to be a pretty sweet victory, seeing how her ex Joe Jonas is stuck at a mere 715,000.
Perhaps Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez Frias should have his 200 ghost tweeters take some notes from Demi. He's only at a mere 4,000 followers!

Considered THE BEST emcee to emerge from the West Coast, the late Tupac Shakur is one of only three American rappers who will have a song preserved in the Library of Congress.
Announced Wednesday (June 23), Shakur's 1995 hit "Dear Mama" made the list of 25 songs to be added to the 2010 National Recording Registry. Each year, 25 works nominated by the public and a panel of experts are preserved for future generations. Recordings must be at least a decade old to be considered for the Library of Congress, Reuters reports.
The Library of Congress had this to say about "Dear Mama":
"A moving and eloquent homage to both the murdered rapper's own mother and all mothers struggling to maintain a family in the face of addiction, poverty and societal indifference."
This honor comes just seven days after Pac's birthday (June 16). He would have been 39.
Shakur, who was shot in 1996, is now the third rap act to be inducted into the registry, following Grandmaster Flash and Public Enemy.

In our latest installment of Deep Thoughts, Blogamole contributor and Drake superfan Simone Hilliard provides thoughtful Thank Me Later analysis, all while pretending to be objective.
By Simone Hilliard
Drake may not have sold a milli in his first week as diehard fans had hoped, but the Toronto native did close to half those numbers, selling 446,000 copies of Thank Me Later in its first week according to Nielsen SoundScan.
So, are these good numbers? Given the current state of the music industry and the fact that the album leaked two weeks prior to its scheduled release date of June 15, sure. But Drizzy's success is derived out of his fan's sense of self discovery.

They found the mixtapes, they shared them with their peers, they helped him blow up. Even the bloggers didn't reveal the link to the most anticipated album of the year with cameos from the likes of Jay-Z, Weezy, Nicki Minaj, Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, and Young Jeezy — like fans, they wanted to see him succeed.

The NBA's season just ended, with the Lakers defeating the Celtics to capture their second straight title. Zing! But the excitement has just begun for us; here comes the 2010 NBA Draft! It all goes down Thursday (June 24) in New York City and is set to air on ESPN at 7 PM ET.
Out of the goodness of our blogging hearts, Team Blogamole compiled draft analyses so you could focus on La Super Copa Tr3s. Didn't we tell you we got this? Wait. Did we? *Google search* Oh. We didn't. Well this time — on the record — Team Blogamole is here for you.
Here are our top 5 picks for the 2010 NBA Draft:

Washington Wizards - John Wall, PG, Kentucky 6'4
The number one pick in this year's draft was a no-brainer. If the Wizards can't move Gilbert Arenas to a new team, they will simply move him to the two guard position and allow Wall to take over the point. Wall is fast, extremely athletic, and can break down defenses and get to the rim in a half court setting. With the most potential in the draft, the 2010 SEC Player of the year possesses “franchise player” capabilities.
Philadelphia 76ers – Evan Turner, SG/F Ohio State 6'7
Our personal favorite player in the draft, Turner shows true leadership skills, versatility — and the kid can rebound. Turner was the first player ever in Big Ten history to finish in the top five in points, rebounds, and assists, earning him the Big Ten Player of the Year award. With the 76ers trading Samuel Dalembert to the Sacramento Kings, one would assume Derrick Favors would occupy the #2 spot — but Turner gets the edge because he would be the perfect complement to Andre Iguodala on the wing.
