Kanye West opened Sunday night's (June 27) 2010 BET Awards with a solo performance of "Power," marking the rapper/producer's return to an award's show stage since the Taylor Swift fiasco at the 2009 VMAs.
West rocked a shirtless red suit and Flava Flav pendant for the occasion and performed sans back-up singers, dancers and a band.
"Power," the lead single off Yeezy's upcoming untitled (rumored name Good Ass Job) album leaked late last month to fan praise. It is tentatively scheduled for a September 14th release, according to Big Sean and Andre Harrell, who tweeted the news.
For the past several months, we've heard about Kanye working in Hawaii with acclaimed producers, such as Pete Rock, Q-Tip and DJ Premier. He was also producing tracks for the likes of Rick Ross and the Clipse. And in May, he popped up in New York to preview new songs.
If "Power" is any indication of what Kanye has in store for the forthcoming LP, we're excited. While 808s and Heartbreak was a deep revealing look into a softer more vulnerable side of Ye, we're ready for the Kanye we know and love!
