New Música: Jay-Z Remix Of M.I.A.'s 'XXXO' Has You 'Comin' Up'

Thought “XXXO,” the first single off of M.I.A.'s upcoming third studio album Maya (aka /\/\ /\ Y /\) was hot? Try listening to the revamped remix with Jay-Z!

For “XXXO,” M.I.A. goes in a more pop direction but still keeps her edge in the process. The danceable, upbeat tune takes is a soft melody (“You want me be somebody who I'm really not”) and contrasts it with a bleak chorus of M.I.A. repeating “XXXO” 8 times in her signature monotone voice. Trust us, the result sounds better in your ears than on paper.

If that doesn't sound like enough fire, add the self proclaimed king of pop Jay-Z into the "not politically correct" mix and you have a contender for the 2010 song of the summer. We just wish Jigga-man had a longer verse on the track!

This is not the first time the two have collaborated together. At the 2009 Grammy Awards, a very pregnant M.I.A. and Jay-Z along with rappers T.I., Kanye West, and Lil Wayne tore up the stage performing “Swagga Like Us.”

Several sources are reporting that M.I.A. will film a video for “XXXO” with hip-hop director Hype Williams. We're wondering if she'll channel her activist side and the stir up as much controversy as the “Born Free” video.

/\/\ /\ Y /\ is set to hit stores on June 13.
