If you loved Jimmy Smits during his "NYPD Blue" days, you'll soon have your chance to see him cleaning up the streets again. According to Variety, the Emmy Award winner has been tapped to play the lead character Cyrus Garza in the new NBC drama, "Outlaw." The show is being produced by Universal Media Studios and Conaco, Conan O'Brien's company!

NBC has officially picked up the series — we can't wait to see Jimmy in action!
We have more show details for you, after the jump!
Garza is a Supreme Court Justice who steps down from the bench to go into private practice. A playboy and a gambler, Garza had always adhered to a strict interpretation of the law until he realized the system he believed in was flawed. Now that he’s quit the bench, he’s determined to represent “the little guy” and use his inside knowledge of the justice system to take on today’s biggest legal cases — and he's making plenty of powerful people unhappy along the way.
"Outlaw" is being shot in Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and Atlantic City. A Latino actor leading in such an influential role is an important step forward and definitely a good look!
Smits most recently starred as Alex Vega in the short lived CBS drama “Cane,” which told the story of two rival Latino families in the sugar and rum business.
Team Blogamole hopes "Outlaw" is a keeper and wishes sexy Jimmy and Coco the best of luck!
