La Primera Dama Michelle Obama joined the U.S. Soccer Foundation, The National Alliance for Hispanic Health, Adidas and others last Friday in Washington, D.C. as part of her Let's Move campaign encouraging kids to get at least 60 minutes of exercise per day.  About 60 children who participated were able to experience a once in a lifetime experience: playing fútbol with Michelle Obama!  The first lady also spoke about physical activity and proper dieting.

Last week's event also showcased soccer as a fun way to encourage kids to stay active and among those who helped with the exercises was former U.S. National Team member Eddie Pope and Jaime Moreno from DC United.

Can't get enough del fútbol?  No te preocupes, we've got lots more in the works with our upcoming celebrity soccer tournament, Rock N Gol.  Stay tuned para más detalles!!  And in the meantime... if you're in MIAMI and have the soccer bug, make sure to show up for the Rock N Gol Team T-Mobile tryouts THIS SATURDAY at Downtown Soccer, from 1pm - 3pm.

Although America Ferrera fans have to say goodbye to 'Ugly Betty' on April 14 (check out these spoiler pics), they shouldn't fret; this talented actress is in no danger of being forgotten.

Ferrera was all smiles at the premiere of her new movie, 'Our Family Wedding,' in New York earlier this week. She had this to say to Entertainment Tonight:

"We knew an end would come one day, and it's a really nice feeling to feel like we're on top of our game creatively, going out with like a bang. "I'll miss my cast, but hopefully we'll still have time to see each other," she added. "Not seeing them on a daily basis -- they've become my family -- will probably be the hardest part."

'Our Family Wedding' arrives in theaters today! America plays a young bride confronting the reality of marriage and new family conflicts.

Ferrera supporters can also look forward to catching her in the DreamWorks Animation adventure, 'How To Train Your Dragon.'

It opens on March 26, 2010 and Ferrera is the voice behind Astrid, a teen Viking who is one tough chica to impress.

Well, that was certainly worth the wait.

On Thursday night (March 11), after months of anticipation, leaked on-set photos and rather excellent adventures in hairstyling, Lady Gaga's epic video for "Telephone" finally premiered during E! News, and, honestly, if there's something she didn't cram into the clip, well, then we missed it.

"Telephone" is nine-plus minutes of everything you could possibly love about Gaga (and her co-star Beyonce) only amped up to the Nth degree.

It's ambitious, funny and clever, playing much more like a short film than a music video. There are opening and closing credits, elaborate, over-the-top (or barely there) costumes, and a whole lot of celebrity cameos. This cost money, this took time, this was a work of love, blood, sweat and tears (and a whole lot of hairspray). This was worth it.

With "Telephone," Gaga has entered the rarest of pop stratospheres, up there with the Madonnas and the, gasp, Michael Jacksons. We're not comparing talent, just ability: ability to wow, to enthrall and put on a show — one can only hope is continued sometime very soon. What did you think of the video? (MTVNews)

Tr3s peeps are constantly stumbling onto news items that make us cringe about the state of race relations. We need to come together, people!

In the spirit of accountability, I will introduce our first hatin’ offender to put on blast:

Los Angeles Angels center fielder Torii Hunter

NESN reported on Wednesday that Hunter had made some offensive statements about dark-skinned Latino players.

In a series of a series of USA Today roundtables about baseball, the hot-headed player said:

"As African-American players, we have a theory that baseball can go get an imitator and pass them off as us. It's like they had to get some kind of dark faces, so they go to the Dominican or Venezuela because you can get them cheaper. It's like, 'Why should I get this kid from the South Side of Chicago and have Scott Boras represent him and pay him $5 million when you can get a Dominican guy for a bag of chips?' ... I'm telling you, it's sad."

Dang! I didn’t know Dominicans worked for chips! Thanks for sharing your cultural insights with the world, Torii!

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, a Venezuelan, gave this response:

"I was laughing because when he said, 'They go there and sign for potato chips,' I said, 'Well, we've got Chapman. They gave him $12 million. [Cincinnati actually agreed to a $30.25 million, six-year contract with pitcher Aroldis Chapman.] We've got [prospect Dayan] Viciedo. They gave him $10 million. I remember in my time, one scout goes [to Venezuela and] 30 players show up. Now, 30 scouts go there and one player shows up. In our country, we play baseball. That's no choice. Here you can play basketball, you can be another athlete, you can do so many things when you have the opportunity. And that's why there's not many [African-American] players out there."

Soon after, Hunter attempted to clear up the controversy on his web site:

"What I meant was they’re not black players; they’re Latin American players. There is a difference culturally. But on the field, we’re all brothers, no matter where we come from, and that’s something I’ve always taken pride in: treating everybody the same, whether he’s a superstar or a young kid breaking into the game. Where he was born and raised makes no difference."

It's nice that Hunter followed up to emphasize the brotherhood between Latin American and African American players, but I hope that in the future Hunter thinks twice before publicly attacking other minority groups.

Last time I checked, chips don’t pay the bills and Dominican baseball players aren’t stealing any opportunities from anyone.

Check out the movie ‘Sugar.’ It’s the story of Azucar, the Dominican pitcher who struggled to make it to the big leagues and pull himself and his family out of poverty.

Tr3s Comunidad, we want to hear from you. What do you think about Torii Hunter’s statement and his response? Sound off in the comments!

This is the first child for Mario and Courtney; who met on the set of the Broadway revival of A Chorus Line in 2008, when Lopez was filling the role of choreographer/grand inquisitor Zach.

Does stress keep you up at night? If you’re one of many who fall under the nebulous category “Hispanic,” don’t worry -– you’re not alone.

Sleepy!

A recent study by the National Sleep Foundation found that Whites were more likely to have received a diagnosis of insomnia but Hispanics were most likely to toss and turn about work, money relationships and health problems. Híjole!

The study also found that Asian-Americans slept the best of all and were also less likely to watch television or drink alcohol before hitting la cama. The study also included this interesting tidbit:

Hispanic and black couples are more likely to *ahem* every night than white and Asian couples.

Well, if we’ve learned anything from Everybody Loves Raymond, this should come as no surprise.

(via the New York Times)

Tr3s comunidad, what do you think about these findings? What keeps you up at night? Tell us in the comments!

For those of you who grew up in the 80s watching The Lost Boys and hanging posters of the Coreys all over your walls, today is definitely a day of mourning.  Corey Haim was found dead in Los Angeles this morning, of an apparent drug overdose.

The actor, who was more recently known for appearing on reality show 'The Two Coreys' alongside fellow 80s teen heartthrob Corey Feldman, notoriously battled with drugs and alcohol throughout his adult life.

As for how we'll be remembering him?  Remember this showdown with co-star Jason Patric in The Lost Boys?  Que lindo que era!

We send our sincerest condolences to la familia de Corey, and mourn the loss of one of our childhood idols! And for all of those who felt a pang of 'Corey Confusion' this morning... Corey Feldman, who won our hearts over with this hilarious translation en Español in The Goonies, is indeed still with us. [MTV News]
