Summer 2010 Fashion Trends: What We've Learned From Kids' Choice Awards

Spring is here (but not if you live in NYC, womp!) and it's time to think about upgrading your wardrobe to accommodate the impending summer sunshine.

Rather than actually taking the time to develop my own style (I'm busy and kind of old), I've decided to analyze what the youngsters were rockin' at the 23rd annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.

Based on intensely staring at this Kids' Choice Awards Fashion Gallery, Summer 2010 will be all about pastels, flirty dresses, cute shorts, lady warriors and casual cool. It also looks like the 80's look isn't going anywhere... guess I'll hold on to my parachute pants!

Looks From The 23rd annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards

Songstress and fashion muse Rihanna went for an 'American Psycho'-sized set of shoulder pads. Those make me look like a deranged performance artist, so that's not a look I'm going to adopt any time soon.

I was, however, inspired by the sparkly ankle socks with stilettos! They reminded MTV Tr3s Production Assistant Giselle of how she used to play dress up when she was little. It's cute, fun and affordable. I may cop that.

We also noticed that most of the starlets were wearing cute, colorful short dresses. I like that you can either dress these up or down, depending on the shoes and accessories. Cute dresses always = win in my book.

And of course you can’t walk out of the house without your hot pair of sunglasses, just ask Justin Bieber, who is apparently now the emperor of Twitter or something.

Will Smith’s daughter Willow seemed to already have her own unique style, check out her... what should we call these? Sneaker pants? We'll just call them courageous.

Zoe Saldana looked fabulous as always in jeans, white shirt and a blazer. It sounds deceptively simple but upon closer examination you'll see that the shoes and her hot pink clutch absolutely complete the look.
