The 52nd annual Grammy Awards added some heavy artillery to the roster of performers taking the stage on January 31: nominee Lady Gaga!
She will perform at Los Angeles' Staples Center alongside a previously announced slate that includes Beyoncé, the Black Eyed Peas, and Taylor Swift; as well as Pink and the Dave Matthews Band, who were also announced yesterday. More artists and presenters will be revealed soon, according to a press release from the Recording Academy.
With the addition of Gaga and the DMB, all five nominees for Album of the Year — which also include Beyoncé, the Black Eyed Peas and Swift — are now slated to play live on the show.
This year's Grammys are shaping up to be a potentially big night for the ladies, as Beyoncé leads the pack with 10 nominations for I Am ... Sasha Fierce, followed by eight nods for Swift's unstoppable Fearless album, six each for the Peas and Kanye West and five each for Jay-Z and Gaga.
Upon learning of her fistful of nominations last month, Gaga took a moment to thank the people who have really made her success possible, her fans, while performing in Boston as part of her Monster Ball tour.
"So, thank you to all of you little monsters. This year, you were nominated for five Grammy Awards. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be where I am today, so thank you!" (MTV News)

Taylor Lautner's got abs of gold. "New Moon" has reeled in $288 million in just seven weeks in theaters, making it the fifth-highest-grossing film of the year and climbing. Now the movie's star is about to get paid. Big-time.
Lautner is set to earn $7.5 million for his next picture, according to a Deadline.com report, making him the highest-paid teen in Hollywood. The film, titled "Northern Lights," will pair the 17-year-old with Tom Cruise. The plot is described as a story about "a gifted young aerobatics pilot who faces off with his controlling billionaire father and falls in love with a gifted female pilot.
According to the Deadline.com story, young stars like Zac Efron and Miley Cyrus have not commanded a paycheck nearly as large as Lautner's. And the "Twilight" werewolf might get even more cash for his future projects.
A December report in Variety indicated that "Breaking Dawn," the final book in the "Twilight" saga, may be split into two films, which would force Summit Entertainment to reopen negotiations with Lautner and co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Based on the blockbuster success of "New Moon," that would likely mean a monster raise for Lautner.
Lautner should also see a hefty payday for his starring turn in "Max Steel." Based on a Mattel toy line and comic book tie-in, the action flick would feature Lautner as an extreme-sports star. who encounters nano-machines that endow him with superpowers. The script is still being tweaked, though, leaving the actor free to jump into "Northern Lights" with Cruise in the spring, just a couple of months before the arrival in theaters of the next "Twilight" film, "Eclipse," whose script recently leaked online! Who was in charge of the leak, might you ask? Apparently it was Jackson Rathbone, who plays Jasper Cullen! We doubt this will effect "Eclipse's" box office appeal, these vamps are cash cows! Looks like 2010 has brought a new love into the Rated R singer's life! That's right, Rihanna's found a new beau, Los Angeles Dodger Matt Kemp!

The 21-year-old singer, introduced to Kemp, 25, by friends in November, is currently vacationing with the outfielder at a luxury resort in Cabo San Lucas.
While hanging poolside on Jan. 4, the lovebirds "couldn't keep their hands off of each other," says an eyewitness, adding that once back on their patio the pair "kept kissing while gazing out over the ocean."
"Rihanna wants the world to know that she is happy with Matt," says an insider. So far, things between them are looking good. He certainly kept her "constantly giggling," says an onlooker, when they went shopping at The Grove outdoor mall in L.A. on Dec. 22.
"They've only had a few opportunities to be together, but those times have been fun," says Kemp's agent Dave Stewart.
Adds an insider, "They really like each other."
Happiness in 2010? We couldn't think of anyone who deserves it more than Rihanna! (People)

Remind us never to pester Alejandra Guzmán if we see her on a plane. While on vacation, la cantante was en route from Mexico City to the Pacific beach resort city of Huatulco when she supposedly got into an argument with a fan. How bad was the argument? Bad enough that the pilots chose to turn the plane right around and back to la Ciudad de México, ruining everyone's vacation plans!
Apparently, the fan got a little too pushy in her requests to take una foto de la famosa cantante, y Guzmán repeatedly asked the fan to "respect her privacy." When the fan did not, resultó en tremenda pelea en medio vuelo. Her publicist has released a statement that assures us that "Guzmán was not on drugs or drinking, as some media have erroneously mentioned." However, details of the fight have not yet been released. Lo que queremos saber is who threw the first punch!!
Alejandra Guzmán has been recovering from some cosmetic surgery (*cough* butt implants *cough*) gone awry, and was flying to the vacation resort after performing a show until 5am that morning. Come on, fans, don't you think la Guzmán has been through enough?! Just let la reina del rock rest in peace on her flight, ok? (Next time, just take a discreet photo when she's not looking! That's what phone cameras are for! Mentiras, we're just kidding...!!)

While some of you may be too young to be avid Sandro fans, we're pretty sure todos nuestros padres are sad about this one! Sandro, el gran cantante Argentino, passed away yesterday after a long and painful battle with lung cancer (smoking kills!). Known as "el gitano," and the Argentinian Elvis, Sandro seduced an entire generation of "nenas" with his hip-shaking swagger and sexy voz. Think we're kidding... pregúntale a tu mamá!
Pero Sandro's impact on la música latina runs deep. As the first Latin artist to ever perform at New York's Madison Square Garden, Sandro's influence was felt across generations, con temas classicos como "Rosa Rosa," "Yo Te Amo" y "Penumbras." En Argentina, el cantante was nothing short of an idol, with bandas como Los Fabulosos Cadillacs recording covers of his songs.
Nuestro pesame a su familia and all his fans en el mundo Latino! R.I.P.

Did you just Laugh Out Loud? We did!
Jennifer Lopez recently revealed to Latina mag that she believed her role in El Cantante, along with hubby Marc Anthony, was Oscar worthy. Um...wasn't this a box office blunder?
J to the Lo said:
“I feel like I had that [Oscar worthy role] in El Cantante, but I don’t even think the academy members saw it. I feel like it’s their responsibility to do that, to see everything that’s out there, everything that could be great. Well, it is a little bit frustrating. It was funny; when the Oscars were on, I had just given birth on the 22nd, and the Oscars, I think, were a day or two later. I was sitting there with my twins—I couldn’t have been happier—but I was like, ‘How dope would it have been if I would’ve won the Oscar and been here in my hospital bed accepting the award? Thank you so much! I just want to thank the academy!’ But we joked about it. It’s all good."
Wow! We'll give her a little credit. She may have deserved an Oscar for Selena, but definitely not El Cantante. We would advise Jenny to stick to her singing, but...well... (PerezHilton)

Fresh off her NYE's hosting gig at Tao in Las Vegas, Christina Aguilera is officially back with brand new music in 2010. 'Bionic' is the 4th album for the Pop and R&B star.
Although she's usually known for her piercing high notes, Christina's showing a softer side on this lp set to drop in March. The HOT mami credits her son Max for the inspiration on this album and says that it's about the future.
The new singing style is credited to exploring new parts of herself - and not in a slutty way!
Aguilera had this to say:
"Maybe I've been afraid to do in the past, to allow myself to go to a place of 'less singing.' I'm more vulnerable and more strong at the same time."
Her first single "Glam" has been described as "a poppy hip-hop inflected throwback to Madonna's "Vogue."'
Producer Tricky Stewart called the album "one of her best bodies of work."
"I know that there's a lot of other cool features, like I know that she has Santigold and Flo Rida on there," he continued. "She's mixing it up again. She's singing R&B again, she's doing pop. She's doing it all, but she's found a way to make it all meet in the middle because she's so many different things."
Sound like a hit to us! It's been 4 years since 'Back to Basics'! We're ready for our Christina fix already! (PerezHilton)
