Michael Jackson's "This Is It" Gets Midnight Release

The first of many unreleased Michael Jackson songs hit the airwaves early this morning. "This Is It" is one of over 100 unfinished MJ tracks that Sony Music may be releasing in the near future. After all, Jackson's "Number Ones" is the best selling album of the year. As to when the track was recorded, labels execs believe it may have been around the time of Michael's 1991 album "Dangerous."

According to Rob Stringer, Chairman of the Columbia/Epic Label Group:

"We just found the song. It was titled, "This Is It.'  It was in a box, and we listened it."

"This Is It" was also to be the title of Jackson's London concert run, and will be included on the soundtrack for the film, which hits stores October 27th. The film, centered around the King of Pop's last rehearsals for the tour, will be released on 10/28.

We think it's safe to say MJ may be gone, but the world definitely isn't ready for him to stop releasing new music! [NY Times]
