Exclusive Entrevista: Cruz Martínez y Los Super Reyes Are 'Cumbia Con Soul'

Wondering what goes on en el mundo de Cruz Martínez y Los Super Reyes?  We sat down with the 'Cumbia Con Soul' grupo to discuss el estilo de su nuevo album, how they handle arguments within the band, and what música is blowing up their iPods these days.  Read on to see what juicy tidbits the Corpus Christi cumbieros revealed -- including a possible Lady Gaga collaboration?!

With their latest single "Eres" picking up steam, Los Super Reyes are gearing up for a hot summer promoting 'Cumbia Con Soul.'  We asked the cumbia kings to tell us what we can expect from el nuevo album, and cantante Abel Talamantez assured us there will be "a lot of surprises."  Watch the clip below to see que tipo de sorpresas those might be.

When asked about how el grupo handles fighting and "disputes," Cruz Martínez had this to say:

Actually, we don't [fight], but we try to instigate it more... and we get into a slap box fight.

Que? Remind us never to get into a fight with these guys en el club!

No, in reality man, there's disputes like anything, but I think there's a lot of respect.  There's things we don't allow, you know, as a group and as brothers.  I mean, 'cuz you know brothers hit brothers, that's just the way it goes sometimes, but there's always a lot of love here, a lot of respect, and there's always somebody else to say "Yo man, chill out."  We're cool, man, I don't think there's ever been a fight.

Looks like there's peace at last en el mundo de la cumbia!  But these cumbia "hermanos" know how to tease each other as well.  We asked to name some of their favorite musical artistas del momento, and after spouting off una cantidad de bromas, el grupo agreed that Lady Gaga's really hot right now.  Would Cruz Martínez y Los Super Reyes consider collaborating with her?

Cruz: That would be awesome!  Two crazy people, that'd be great!
