An everlasting pop career that has spanned more than twenty years...

Paulina Rubio always appears as flawlessly untouchable as a superhero diva out of the pages of your favorite comic book. She is charming, resilient, and cuter than the entire "High School Musical" class put together (including Zac Efron). We recently sat down for an exclusive interview with Paulina during her appearance at the English as a Second Language studios in New York City. She quickly corrected us whenever we switched back to English when speaking about her perfume "Oro" ('se dice sándalo no sandalwood!'), but her quick wit and contagious laughter made the entire meeting feel entre familia.
Read what she had to say about her new album "Gran City Pop" and her golden scent right below!
What inspired you to pay tribute to all of the major cities for your upcoming album "Gran City Pop"?
It's simply about being prideful and waving our flags up high. I love that patriotic feeling when I perform across the world. Every time I am in the studio I really try to create something different. This just worked.
We premiered your new video "Causa y Efecto" last week. Was it painful to wear chips of broken glass on your face?
I have to say it was a little boring. I had to sit there and wait for them to glue each piece. It was difficult not being able to talk or move my face, but the end result was well worth it.
Do you find that your personal life also affects your music?
I believe everything works around the law of the universe. We have all received or been affected by karma in our lives. That's what "Causa y Efecto" is all about.
What has your mother (famous actress Susana Dosamantes) taught you about the business?
Definitely to take everything easy and peacefully. She always reminds me not to take myself to seriously.
Tell us about your perfume "Oro." What is the base of the scent?
It combines citrus and sandalwood elements into it. You end up with a very mystical kind of scent. When I was creating the perfume I was really looking for something that reminded me of comfort and security. Whenever I went shopping for a fragrance I never really felt satisfied with the stuff out there. I wanted something that I could wear at night or during the day. Something I could wear at the beach or at work. I think that what makes "Oro" unique is that it neutralizes into your own scent and stays on throughout the entire day.
How does the perfume reflect La Chica Dorada?
The perfume encompasses the essence of an independent woman - a woman who is secure and confident with who she is. That isn't just me, but every woman wants that feeling.
Stay tuned for more info on her international tour and don't forget to pick up "Gran City Pop" when it drops on June 23rd. For more on Paulina Rubio be sure to watch E.S.L. today at 9 PM for more of this independent chica!
