Los Alacranes aren't afraid to bite.

The seven cantantes are injecting a venom-free duranguense that even leaves skeptics forgetting the two-step. Hailing from Durango, Mexico and Chicago Illinois, Los Principes erase borderlines with their fast-pace beats and heart-wrenching love songs that no broken corazón can ignore. Los Alacranes have received a wide-range of nominations including the upcoming Premios Juventud and Latin Billboard nom for "Top Latin Album Of The Year" for the hit album, "Tu Inspiración."
We recently got a chance to chat exclusively with Omar (a.k.a. The Teddy Bear) about the grupo's success and who he loves most in this world. Check out our chido interview right below the hood!
El duranguense has revolutionized your musical genre. How do you feel about all of the éxito?
It is truly a blessing. We are so excited about all the nominations. It makes our success a little more personal because it's every musicians dream. Our fans are the most important part of it all. Our MySpace page alone has over 75,000 friends and people go on and write messages to us everyday. Without our fans, Alacranes Musical wouldn't even exist.
Do you have a favorite fan moment you want to share?
There have been a few. Por ejemplo, we met a fan here in Chicago that was in a coma and she always listened to us when she was well. We went to visit her in the hospital and sang "Por Tu Amor" for her. Thank God, she was able to come out of the coma. No, we aren't miracle workers or anything, but it's nice that in some way our music lifted her spirits up. It is a blessing.
What is the best part of forming part of Alacranes?
I think translating a life experience into a song is the best part. Luego, seeing people sing and dance to it. In our music we say 'nosotros luchamos igual que tu...somos Mexicanos luchando por echar adelante.' Latinos area talented and have a story to tell del corazón.
What makes your corridos different from the rest of your canciones?
Un corrido es una historia. It's fictious and passed down from generations. We are actually working on creating an album completely dedicated to corridos. We serve our fans. Whatever they want to listen to, that is what we give them.
How do you guys deal with arguments within the group? Do you ever fight?
No...we are a family. Just like a family we have small fights but it's all entre hermanos. We only let it last 10 or 15 minutes and then we hug each other and it's over with. We try to maintain a peaceful energy in everything. If there is something we disagree on, we sit down and we talk about it.
Why do you think la música ranchera is dominated by men?
This is the time when that is changing. There is a wave of change coming in. For example, Jenni Rivera and por supuesto Las Potras. Jenni is a personal friend of ours and we love and support her in everything she does. She has taken el perrito a pasar como dicen por ahí. Her music proves that women are strong, equal, and have a voice of their own.
In honor of woman's month, which lady do you love the most in this world?
She was the first women that showed me love. I have a lot of beautiful memories with my mother. I cook breakfast for her in the mornings, buy her presents, and sing to her. I try to do it everyday.
